We go to Juneau every 3 months to stretch our legs a bit and do things we can't do where we live(Petersburg, pop. @2000, on an island inaccessible by bridge). We have stayed at the Prospector every time in Juneau and have no reason to change. The rooms are roomy and clean, with comfortable beds and a fridge and microwave.... More

Room is adequate w/ fridge and microwave. Right on busy road, so noisy all night (even in Juneau!). TV reception quit, that hotel could not fix. Their solution was to leave it broken until after I left. They had other rooms. I didn't make a big deal out of it, as I was using my ipad anyway. But bad service.... More

Booked this hotel between ferry rides to Anchorage. The pictures online looked good...the price was steep. $109 a night but they do accept pets so we decided to book a room. We arrived and noticed the lobby area was ok...tacky cheap furniture...but it looked good. Got are room key and were told the pet rooms are downstairs...the room was filthy,... More

Three of us cousins, all in our 60s, shared a very nice suite. We had a beautiful view across the water, 2 TVs, many amenities and very nice accommodations. We didn't use any of the hotel's offerings (bar or restaurant) but I did use the free internet off the lobby and it was nice to have. The location is within... More

I booked a room at this hotel two weeks before my arrival, through Expedia. The room I booked (and paid for immediately) was a queen executive waterfront room. I got to the hotel at 3 p.m. (check-in time), but the room I had paid for was unavailable. I was offered two other rooms - both unacceptable (one opened onto a... More

The view (facing the water) is gorgeous. Amazingly beautiful bay surrounded by mountains. The hotel is tolerable. Nothing fancy or special. The rooms are dated and worn. It doesn't come close to the Baranoff which was full when I visited. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. A cocktail in the bar was okay. And it was close enough to... More

First of all you have to know that when you visit Juneau, there's not going to be major chain hotels in town. I stayed here this summer and absolutely enjoyed my time. Get over the fact that you're not living in the lap of luxury and go downstairs and get a drink. All of the staff (the hotel/restaurant and bar)... More

Steve was awesome - You need a new maintenance person though , one who will get on problems as soon as they occur, not leave lights burned out for months on end. How much is a good desk clerk worth? It's important that a person take pride in where they work, steve obviously does, and it shows in his dealings... More

If you come in when the wrong (by this I mean not helpful or kind) person is on duty or you come in at night and look at your room which might appear to be not the best place to spend the night, it will all change once you experience the magic dust of Ken or the understanding eyes of... More

Don't let the outside scare you! Yes, the rooms appear dated but they were extremely large and comfortable. Alaska isn't supposed to be extremely fancy and for the kind service and price this place can't be beat.
