We stayed here with friends in order to do the Tongariro Crossing. Vivienne was a wonderful hostess and the rooms were very stylish and beautifully kept. We enjoyed the huge lounge area where we were able to relax with our friends. The gardens were spectacular and only a stone's throw from the golf course. On our return from the Crossing,... More

We spent a couple of nights at Ruapehu Golf and Country Lodge, and found the accommodation very comfortable, but the bathroom facilities a little cramped. We received helpful suggestions for dining and things to do from our host. Like a previous reviewer we dined at the Lodge one night, and whilst the food was good we thought that it was... More

This has been a difficult review to decide how to write, we are in two minds about our experience and this is why... The positives: - Geoff and Vivienne were delightful hosts, always chatty and welcoming to their home and giving us information on the area and how best to do the Alpine Crossing. - The rooms are lovely, beds... Geoff and Vivienne were so welcoming to us and I miss their hospitality and dog Stormy already! We got there late on Saturday around midnight (came from Melbourne to Auckland where the airline lost one of our bags) and they were more than accommodating to us. Breakfast was wonderful, rooms were wonderful as were the grounds and not to mention... More

We recently spent the weekend with 3 other couples at the Ruapehu Country Lodge and what a great weekend we had. We had booked all the suites so we enjoyed having the lovely lounge area to relax and catchup in on the night we all arrived, and we all had our own lovely bedrooms with kind beds and ensuite bathrooms.... The mime hosts Vivenne and Geoffrey were just superb. The meal at night - fresh fish delivered from the Hawkes Bay and excellent wines. In the morning eggsfresh from the chook run. Quiet with beautiful views of the golf course and the mountains in the background.

Sharing their beautiful home which is set in lovely surroundings the hosts are genuinely welcoming and provide superior accommodation with meticulous attention to the comfort of their guests. The optional home-cooked dinner should be a must for lovers of superbly cooked and presented fresh food. Breakfast is similarly delicious.

Loved our last holiday here - January this time (we have previously come in winter for skkiing which was just as amazing). Beautiful warm days meant we could spend alot of time outside in the private courtyards (accessed from each room), golfing (much to my husbands delight) and exploring all the amazing walkways the area has to offer. The bed... More

What a fantastically stunning retreat. We have two young children and were a little unsure how they would be accommodated. They had their own room which was superb. The hosts were well used to having little ones around and made them feel special by including them on the chicken feeding, egg collecting etc. The lodge is situated in a fabulous... More

The hosts here were very accommodating & made us feel really at home. The rooms were pleasant with well equiped en suite shower rooms. The hosts offered a home cooked evening meal for a reasonable cost, that included their lovely homegrown vegetables. It was a real treat & much appreciated.
