We went away for our annerversary... to get to the hotel was a very long bumpy dirt road... took us about 40 minutes if not more on the dirt road... which made it quite a drive from Jhb... we got there at night, pitch dark for the duration of the dirt road... We arrived there, had supper, very mediocre hotel... More

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend with no idee of time. The environment is that of absolute peace and tranquility. This lodge is situated away from the hussel and bussel of the everyday rush an escape from the world. You just dont want to go back to the real world when the weekend is over. The hospitality is that of nothing but... More

Had a super relaxing weekend with wife and daughter. A place you can really wind down at. Beautiful scenery. The walking trails are amazing. Will definitely visit again. The only tip is to play open cards about the road conditions. I was told my sedan would handle it but was damn glad I took the Fortuner. Further, stunning place and... More

We were thirty two family members that went to Komati Gorge Lodge for New Year 2012 with our Pets being the main reason we went. The place is in a stunning place, however we were not informed that the sand road was soo bad and it was most unpleasant for my seven month pregnant daughter in law. We were not... More

If you want relaxation then this is the place for you! Pet friendly and the nicest, friendliest staff as a whole I've come across in a long time. Although the dinner menu is small, the food is great and Ernst and Amanda go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. My husband and I went for a picnic... More

In mid June I made a booking for July. Booking for 2 adults, 2 children & 2 dogs'. In our e-mail correspondence i declared one puppy and a 'large baby sitter'. I was never asked for any further detail from the Lodge about the size, age or breed of dogs. Summary of events, my pup was biten by resident male... More

At first glance the lodge seems quite impressive, especially its location. But when we entered our unit (Fire Fly) our enthusiasm dampened. Firsly the location of this particular unit faces the reception and the back of the reception building where various building materials and other unsightly items are stored. The decor needs serious updating, especially the bright orange curtains and... More

The comfort & pet friendliness exceeded our expectations. My main objective was to spend a weekend away somewhere where we could take our dogs too. We stayed in leopard suite 5, nice and private, exceptionally comfortable. My only criticism would be the BRIGHT shiny orange cushions & curtains! That besides the chalets are very well equipped, spotlessly clean with a... More

This is one of the few lodges in South Africa that accept dogs. And the dogs love it. The scenery is magnificent. The lodge is right inside the gorge, overlooking a stunning rock face. We had a self catering unit which I guess was fine in spite of the orange satin cushions on the bed and the fact that the... More

Going to the Lodge in June, my husband didn't expect good fishing but he used the weekend to recce the river to find ideal spots. And there are many (he says). Fishermen are the most optimistic people I know... even if they don't see a fish, they're sure that fish must be lurking nearby! Beautiful scenery in winter, so summer... More
