As an out-of-town-er, one thing that struck me was that we could not have even entered Amazulu Lodge had one of us not had a cellphone working in South Africa. They close doors at 6pm... we were 2 minutes late, but the doors were locked. You call the manager who comes and opens the doors and gives you the room... More

When we arrived from Durban, the reception was fantastic, our room was not ready , but it did not matter, we lazed around the pool until it was, then we went to the river for our cruise. The room was very confortable, very game reserve look *** really good beds , its always my worry with bad back history, Breakfast... More

We loved every minute of our stay at Amazulu, from the wonderful friendly front desk staff to our beautifully appointed room, that was spotless. Everything is perfectly kept at the lodge. There is alot of attention to detail put into each room, even down to the his and hers towels. Breakfast was a great part of our day with a... More

The room was big and nice but smelled very strongly of chemicals (against bugs?). The bathroom was integrated in the room with no door, not so nice. The securitybox was broken so we could´nt lock our valubles in. The remote control for the TV was broke to and the the TV was placed very high so you had to stand... More

We stayed one night here as part of a 2 day trip to Hluhluwe game reserve and St Lucia. The rooms were spotless and in my opinion struck a good balance between African ambience and modern comfort. Nice shampoo, body wash and lotion provided. We didn't have time to use the pool but it looked clean, and breakfast was really... More

Over rated. Not an authentic experience like the Lonely Planet suggests. Authentic example of White South African arrogance. Staff were rude and entered into an actual argument with me when I pointed out areas of the room which needed attention. Live socket with no bulb over bed. Health and safety hazard, could easily have put fingers into it when reaching... More

The rooms are nice. Slept in the family room 5. Very far from the parking. Lovely place as far as accommodation goes. Didn't find the breakfast to be very nice. Staff is friendly and the kitchen is controlled by an African lady who was very attentive to us during breakfast.
