Central location, good rooms which need a new lick of paint. Slightly over-priced.

The Axel Hotel in Buenos Aires was our hotel for about a week, and we stayed in two rooms, one facing the road and then one facing the back pool area. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, and have an interesting design tied into the look of the entire hotel. Loved the see through pool floor and atrium. The pool...

Was here for two weeks in Feb 2012, fantastic trip. The facilities (outdoor pool, spa level with pool, bar, resto) were awesome. Best of all is the Sunday pool party, hosted by the top performers of Buenos Aires nightlife.. very cool. ;)

My girlfriend and I stayed here after having reserved a room at a disgusting hostel. I booked not knowing it was marketed toward the gay community. However, this didn't bother us at all being a straight couple and the staff was very helpful and kind towards us. One of the front desk workers, Juan Ignacio, was especially nice and helpful....

I loved the showers and the rooms were pretty nice. The staff were also pretty helpful and the modern/chic environment is also pretty cool.
The street and area of town is not the best, however. I realized all the great gay bars, etc. were in Palermo, a 40 peso taxi ride away. It probably would've been better staying at a...

For my first two nights in BA I thought the Axel would be a bit of a treat, something special after a long journey, but in reality I found it a bit ordinary. The entrance off a fairly noisy, grubby street made me think I had arrived at a different Axel! Inside was nice. Room was comfortable, nice bed and...

This was our second stay at the Axel hotel. Last stay was April, 2011. Since it wasn't a summer season anymore we wanted to come back.
Pros:
- Pool parties on sundays!
- modern rooms
- great spa and wellness area on a rooftop with sunbathing facilities
- Outdoor pool, which is very rare in BA.
- friendly staff
-...

i checked in and checked out three hours later despite having pre-paid. its a nice hotel but they gave me a room which was incredibly noisy from the street and the music from the bar. after 25 hours travelling to argentina I wanted to relax and sleep which wasn't possible.

The hotel is located in a dark and ugly street of San Telmo, an old and bohemic neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is not a safe area. It is overpriced for the location. The spa and the pool are nice. The rooms are good. The hotel serves well the GL community if you intend to stay in the hotel, but...

Hotel was in great location and staf was helpfull and friendly. Wifi in room was spotty at best, in lobby worked fine. Water splashed on floor due to shower design but extra towels arrived once called for. No robe in room or slippers. Breakfast in AM was quite good, nice selection of food items and fresh jusices. Overall pleasant experience.
