The hotel is on the side of a cliff by itself which makes for a quiet, relaxing get-away from the cities around Lake Atitlan. The cliff-side resort has beautiful gardens that are well tended. The views from the many balconies and terraces are fabulous. It's a perfect setting to go swimming and lounge in the hammocks with a book. Although... more

I must agree with all of the other wonderful reviews. The food was great & we loved meeting other travelers from around the world. Our room #3 looked over the lake with amazing volcano views. The steps were a little tricky even with a small suitcase but well worth the climb. It was unbelievably inexpensive (even the beer & wine)... more

My husband and I stayed at La Casa Del Mundo in July of 2009 as part of a two week trip in Guatemala and Belize and it was a truly amazing place to stay. I really cannot say enough positive things about it. First of all, the views and the location are spectacular. Very relaxing, and a great place to... more

I stayed here with my girlfriend after celebrating new year's in San Pedro. This unique place built little by little is a gem on the shores of Lago di Atitlan. Yes indeed it is a lot of steps up. If you cannot do it at once, then just stop and look over the lake and enjoy the view of the... more

Just returned from a brief getaway- and this was by far one of the best places I have ever stayed!! The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms perfect down to every detail, you can tell there is was a lot of love going into this hotel. The communal dinners were enjoyable (although notably not native influenced - but offered a great... more

We had a lovely 3 night stay here on our honeymoon. The location is awesome and the view from room 16 over the lake and volcanoes is something else. The dinner is very nice, which is lucky as due to the isolation it is hard to go elsewhere after boats have stopped on the lake. Breakfast is also good. A... more

Great setting and views. Hotel is cutsey overly frilled Austrian chalet - nothing of Guatemala at all, and not in the slightest bit stylish or minimalist. It was full of Americans when I stayed and maybe they like this kind of folksy thing, but it did not appeal to a sophisticated European taste. 184 steps to my room, no assistance... more

This place is magic. The view of the lake and the volcanos are amazing. Peoples overthere are super friendly, food is great, the place is sooooo well decorated and full of flowers. They have patios were you can just chillout beside the lake. Very relaxing place. Even tough they don;t accept credit card, you can pay your stay by using... more

Although this hotel has a nice location, it is overpriced for what you get. The rooms do have lovely views and the hotel does have some nice areas, however the prices for rooms, food and facilities are way overpriced. The hot tub is an extra 275q and even internet is 25Q (about 3 times the normal price). The evening meal... more
