The room was huge, we had a superior room and it came with a full dining table. The description however stated the room had a microwave and it didn't, which was disappointing as we were going to need one for cooking. The kitchen was in a good state but not amazing and the TV was in a silly spot in that you couldn't see it from the bed. But it was ok for the location we needed to be in. Heating was excellent and warmed up nicely. wifi was ok in the room but in the kitchen non existent.

Great friendly and responsive staff that showed us around. The hot tub was nice and relaxing. Room and facilities were clean and fairly modern. Comfortable beds. In one word it was really great place and we would definitely come again!

we stayed at the Selfoss Apartments (owned by the hostel but down the block from one another). To check in you walk down the block to the hostel to retrieve your key and then back to the apartments (an easy walk, we did it in December). The room was comfortable but was advertised as including a kitchen and our room did not. We had to walk back down the street to use the shared kitchen at the hostel in order to prepare the food we'd purchased. Ownership seemed aware of this issue as we expressed our concern and were partially refunded (the man at the front desk of the hostel was very kind, understanding, helpful, & accommodating). Overall, other than the kitchen confusion our stay was perfectly quiet & pleasant. Something to be aware of - doors to the bathroom are glass. You cannot see the toilet from the room but anyone getting in and out of the shower will definitely be seen.…

Lovely kitchen facilites. Free hot tub was fabulous but a little to hot for me and dark. Selfoss town is a place we could see ourselves living long term, and was a great base for the things we wanted to do on our iceland holiday.

Value for the money. We stay at the apartment which has private toilet and kitchen. The kitchen is totally out of my expectation because it’s very convenient for us to prepare our breakfast. Room is clean and warm. We are happy to stay at here.

This is a nice apartment on the main road. It is clean and quiet. upon arrival, you pick up the keys in the hotel a few doors down. It is a roomie unit with a full kitchen, big bath, and nice comfortable bed. The wifi is strong and fast. For an additional cost you can have breakfast in the restaurant in the adjacent hotel, where you pick up the keys. We will stay here again on our next trip to Iceland.

Recently stayed 1 night here with my husband. It's a pretty basic hostel, but the guy working there was very nice and friendly. Everything is very clean, and there's a really nice kitchen downstairs. They also have jacuzzi, which is nice (we didn't have a chance to use it, but it's there!). The bathrooms were nice too - you get private toilets & showers. However, wifi didn't work upstairs. Overall, it's a good stop for a short stay. Nothing spectacular but not bad at all either.

Husband and I stayed here last minute due to bad weather (we were originally camping locally). Staff were friendly and removed my fears of hostels from 'back in the day'. Room and facilities were clean and fairly modern. Breakfast was available at extra cost, which we opted for - freshly made waffles, cereals, breads, fruit etc

This hostel for the accomodations, and price met my expectations as all I would need out of a hostel experience. The staff is friendly, the garden patio was nice in summer. The hot tub was nice and relaxing for the times I was able to use it. Great friendly and responsive staff who were continuing with upkeep and refreshing areas of the hostel even during my stay. This shows commitment to want to keep the hostel a nice place for future visitors.

not sure what the other reviews are about. A friend of mine and I stayed in this hostel on the way back from Vik for one night. We should have drove on. The place is VERY run down and in desperate need of renovation. The rooms are not clean, there was an extension cord in our room that had dirt and dust accumulation from months on it. The bed sheets smelled strange and the room faced a busy street. In Iceland where almost everything has a view and everywhere it is empty and lovely this is a pity. The windows very thin and super old. It looks like a dump from outside and inside. Just the day before we stayed in Heradsskolinn Boutique Hostel in Laugarvatn for the same price and had a wonderful experience. Lovely white rooms, views, the common areas looking like a 4 star hotel. So do not understand what is with this hostel in Selfoss. My friend couldn't sleep because of strange smells. I woke up all itchy all over. The staff were friendly, so this is not about service. It is about the quality of the place. Rooms looking like they were from the 70s and not renovated since.Bathrooms slimey, although better looking than the rooms and corridors. We had a double room with shared bathroom. To conclude why would someone stay here if Iceland is so lovely. We ended up here last minute on the way and regretted not havng done more research beforehand. So never again. Even if you are a student: don't do this to yourself. There are places in Iceland for budget travellers which are lovely.…
