Heaps of atmosphere and friendly staff make The Beckford Arms worth returning to again and again. Sure, it is normally busy, but they are used to it and seem to be able to cope and keep on smiling. Food is quite up-market reliably good. Remember to book a table any night and bring a torch as some of the tables... More

We stayed recently at the fabulous Beckford Arms lodges on the Fonthill estate. Firstly let me say that the lodges are truly fantastic and the owners of the pub were absolutely delightful as were all the staff and the food was out of this world good – hence our ratings, so this is not a complaint but just a helpful... This was a perfect choice for two friends meeting up for a couple of days walking/relaxing in the bucolic Wiltshire countryside. Large sofas by the open fire were very welcoming after wet walks,as was the advice on local routes from the friendliest of staff who set a charmingly relaxed atmosphere. The breakfasts were outstanding and with open French windows leading... More

Haven't stayed there but it's a great place for a drink. Nice garden. Good pub grub. Will go back.good selection of Gin, Cider, Beer and good wine list. Fish and chips was good.also they have a huge sausage roll on the counter top that they slice off its very good.

A friend and I visited the Beckford Arms after we'd recently had it recommended to us and I'm pleased to say it definitely did not disappoint! We shared a lovely starter of beetroot cured salmon- flavoursome and presented beautifully. To follow I had the Asian Fish Curry, a favourite dish of mine since travelling in Thailand last year (nowhere in... More

The rooms, even the so called family room, are actually very small, but very comfortable. The beds, pillows and linen are lovely. The area is beautiful and peaceful, but a local cockerel crowing from 4 in the morning was at bit much. Though very rural! Hopefully this beast was in a way responsible for the delicious eggs at breakfast. You... More

Spent one night at the Beckford Arms after reading favourable reviews. Arrived mid-afternoon and were shown to our room (room 6). Nice view overlooking the gardens, not the biggest room but lots of nice extras - cafetiere, jars of tea and fresh ground coffee, fresh milk upon request, chocolate bars, internet radio with docking station and a toilet bag of... Surroundings excellent. Food good but expensive. If you enjoy the managers dog perpetually running under your table this is for you. Not for us though!! Should we be in this area again, we would make point of dining inside. Staff were friendly and they obviously enjoyed playing with the dog in between serving

I love The Beckford Arms- we have now visited twice, and it is now my go-to place for a relaxing break with good food, in beautiful countryside. We stayed in the newly built Splendens Lodges, only a short walk from the hotel. These are beautiful converted lodges, with a self catering kitchen, wood burning stove, claw-foot bathtubs, and panoramic views... More

The country b&b has all the ingredients for a special stay. We went for a birthday meal on a busy saturday night. The pub is in a gorgeous setting, with tasteful country decor and and lovecly buzzy, young atmosphere. However, to get to the point - the service was slow (and apologetic). i.e. noone was there to take us to... More
