It was certainly quiet when I visited but this did not distract from very attentive service and some tasty food. The environment inside is of a very high standard and, although eating alone, enjoyed my surroundings. The soup was hearty and the main course was goo home cooked food. I would certainly eat here again if the opportunity arises.

I revisited this odd place thinking my last bad experience was a one off . NO it was just as bad again with the fowl mouthed woman that works there and the same smelly old drunk rude farmers were still there gossiping about everyone and now I realise this place in the hands it's in will never move forward so... We were attending a wedding in Builth wells Saturday 8th September and booked a room at The Lion Hotel. Our room was great, it had a lounge with a settee, chair, coffee table and television (there is only one room which has a lounge) we didn't know we were having this room so we were very pleased. I don't know... More

Ate here with friends whilst on a cycling holiday in wales. The pub we'd been recommended to eat wasn't doing food the night we were there so this was one of the other places they recommended. The food was excellent and the specials were extremely good value but the room we ate in was very dated and had no windows;... More

Avoid like foot and mouth the place is horrable and riddled with drunk gossiping farmers ( wyn the butcher) he put me off to start off with and then i come across a old ladie having a good swear session with another farmer . The hotel looks ok but if you look closer you can see the the cracks throughout... More

Family run hotel. Rooms are large and recently updated....but a few things look like they were done in a hurry...not a great finish. The hotel itself has a bar and restaurant. The food is good value and very tasty. The breakfast was cooked to order and plentiful. Would stay again if stopping in Builth Wales on way down to Cardiff.

A very warm and friendly hotel, the bedroom was spacious, clean and comfortable. The communal areas are in need of a refurbishment as they are rather tired. Seems a family run place that is in need of a bit of expertise, the hotel inspector could do wonders here! Food was not special, very small, very plain menu which was distinctly... More

We stayed two nights at the Lion Hotel on 30 and 31 December 2011 and urge you to ignore the previous bad reviews of the place. It is now under new management and we found it a good place to stay. The staff were friendly, the room was large and newly refurbished and the breakfast was substantial. The rates were... More

My new husband and I stayed for two nights at the Lion hotel the day after our wedding and it was perfect for a nice, quiet mini-break which was just what we needed after the hectic-ness of the previous month! My husband had booked it as a surprise for me through late rooms and the suite that we had was... More
