We visited in July 2012. I personally loved my stay at Le Bambou Gorilla. The staff are very very friendly, welcoming you in a very polite manner. A person make a fire for us in the room, to keep us warm when we arrived at 4 pm ish. Each room is a separate cottage. The rooms are well spaced-out and... More

If you're trekking gorillas from the Volcanoes NP, Le Bambou is a very convenient place to act as a base camp. The owner, Emmanuel, will purchase permits for you ahead of time and he can also do airport pick ups. The lodge itself is clean with very comfortable beds and the service is really good. All the staff are very... More

The lodge had several free-standing bungalows set in beautiful gardens. The bungalows are spacious, clean and well equipped. The beds are comfortable, and the fire adds welcome heat in the cold evenings. The helpful staff also provide hot water bottles when you go to bed. Unfortunately, the hot water wasn't working in our room, but the manager offered to let... More

...inspite of the illness of my husband - when we arrived he had a bad cold and fever. The staff, especially Richard, was very kind and helpful - there was a fire in the chimney which was kept burning, we got hot-water-bottles for the bed, a thermos with hot tea and the dinner served to the room. The room was... More

I really enjoyed our stay at Le Bambou. We were there for 3 nights at the beginning of March. It is in a quiet area very close to the gorilla trekking area. The gardens are lovely and there are lots of birds around. We were welcomed with ginger tea and hot cloths to wipe our hands. Richard and the other... More

It's lodge was very clean and the rooms beautiful and the most comfortable beds. However, it was raining and the main lodge and room were very cold. They did build a nice fire in our fireplace which took the chill off and warmed the room up after a couple of hours. They brought us a hot water bottle at bedtime... More

I staye here one night and was rather disappointed. My friend and I were given awarm welcome with hot --too hot! cloths to wipe our hands and face. We were greeted wiTh delicious ginger tea while we were trying to settle some financial details wherein the manager was wanting us to pay more than what we had agreed upon. Anyway,... More

Le Bambou proved to be a very good base for a couple of days and nights spent in Parc National des Volcans. The lodge lies quietly up in the mountains which is a perfect setting and a constant inspiration for whatever activities lies ahead (or behind you) in the Virungas, be it gorilla- or golden monkey trekking, etc. The rooms... There are not a lot of good choices for gorilla trekking near Ruhengiri and there are only a handful not in town or not distant from the start of the trek. Le Bambou was priced to meet my budget and the reviews were good. I was on a solo trek in mid-January 2013 and stayed there two nights. Aside from... More

My friend and I stayed here for two nights just before Christmas and we had a very comfortable stay except when we tried to take showers. The hotel is situated in the high mountains of Rwanda so the temperature was very cold. Our cabin was clean, well-appointed and well lit and the in-unit fireplace was wonderfully warming. During the time... More
