As usual with Serena, the staff were very gracious. The rustic style construction fits in with the location at the top edge of the crater. Buffet style food is good, and food service excellent. The view of the crater from the lodge is breathtaking. This is a Safari Lodge, not a 5 star city Serena, and fits that purpose very... More

This beautiful hotel sits on the very rim of the Crater. You wake in the morning looking out into the crater and see the sunrise and set over the crater from your room The staff were brilliant and spoke good English. The room was really lovely.A huge bed and huge bathroom The food was Buffet style as it is in... More

After staying in several other locations during our Northern Tanzania safari, I can easily say that the Ngorongoro Serena is our favorite, being at the top for the things that matter most to us in a hotel. Although the furnishings of the rooms are basic, which is true of every other location, the shower has the best water flow and... More

We had read that this was one of the best rated hotels in the world! Well the view of the Crater is one of the best in the world, but the hotel is shopworn and tired. The towels were thin, the bedding darned and threadbare. The food was not as good as a Best Western or a Holiday Inn. We... More

We had a one-night stay in this lodge during our Kenya-Tanzania safari. Great views of the crater right from the lodge - both from your room, and from the restaurant. This is the only lodge, where the restaurant is not open-air (glass windows are closed for breakfast/dinner), therefore no mosquitoes!! Food is adequate, better than in any other Serena Lodge... You cannot beat this lodge for the location and the breathtaking view, but if you are looking for 4 to 5 star accommodation you are going to be very disappointed. The food was very, very average, and unappealing, the menu was well worded and appealing but what you got was something not resembling that. Word of warning your door key... More

We stayed here for two nights on a seven night safari. The location is fantastic, excellent views from our room. We had a second floor room, I suggest the view is similar on both floors. The room was very nicely decorated. Similar to all of the other serena lodges we stayed at - bright and comfortable. This was the only... More

The hotel has to be situated in one of the most beautiful locations with stunning views of the Ngorongoro Crater, and not to mention the unique stone construction the hotel itself. The rooms are of good size and were quite comfortable, and who could resist sitting on you deck looking out over the Crater... More

After reading other reviews of this property I was very surprised and disappointed with the overall experience. The quality of the rooms was average. The food was average at best, and the picnic breakfast and lunch were poor. For the prices they charge I was expecting a better standard More

Soon after checking-in we heard a rustling noise outside our balcony window. Turned out to be an elephant munching on grass. This surreal expereince marked the rest of our stay at Ngorongoro Serena lodge (2 nights). The views were the most amazing I've ever seen from a hotel room. The massive crater, the awesome sunrises, the closeness to wildlife (grunting... More
