Are you looking for a historic place, a cosy, neat medieval hotel to feel as if a member of the court in the 17th century...? HERE IS THE HOTEL for you!!!
Excellent attention, location, service, spotless premises... But you need to remember that one night will be enough if you are coming to Spain to visit different places --Santillana del...

We stayed in Hotel Altamira for 2 nights at the end of our France/Spain holiday tour. The hotel was lovely, and completely in keeping with its heritage (except for the bathroom, which was, happily, modern and very clean. The whole place was quite dark, but this is to be expected. Beds were comfortable; bedside mats were welcome but their cleanliness...

Our "double room" had 3 beds and was huge. The original stone walls& beams added a lot of charm, but the bathroom was completely modern. The breakfast was just OK & no effort was made to keep the eggs warm; they were just on a plate with no warming rack. We were with a tour and our group dinner in...

If you like a room made out of authentic rock and heavy timber (We did!), this place is for you! It's about as "authentic" as any 500 year old building as you would want to stay in. Even the stairways and ancillary rooms just scream "Medieval"! -- including a very atmospheric upstairs lounge. And the ady who seemed to fill...

We had a charming room all in wood, with a small window and a beautiful view. We strolled the streets and ate a very late, but delicious dinner. The next morning...

I'm not really into staying in old castles, but this was definitely unique. The rooms were all different - mine was tiny but my friend (also traveling as a single) had a HUGE room. It was a very dramatic setting and any history buffs would be enthralled! I found the older waitress in the dining room to be very crabby...

We stayed at the Hotel Altimira in September 2007 and found it a wonderful, very different place. It was like stepping back in time and when entering the reception area I could swear I smelt horses!! It must have been a stables at one time. The staff were wonderful, particularly when I went wandering in the night for some water...

This old house was well converted many years ago for hotel use, and the interior is stunning.
However, it now needs some further investment in things like the bathrooms, and the standards of hotel keeping are tending to slip. For instance, we do not like waterproof under sheets which are clammy; there is no minibar; and Spanish terrestrial TV only....
