San Simeon Pines Resort is located at the very north end of Moonstone drive surrounded by pines with it's own 'pitch and put' golf course, beautiful gardens, shuffleboard court, picnic tables. I've always wanted to stay there (we visit Cambria a couple times a year) but hesitated because of some of the negative reviews. Well, whatever the complaints were, they... More

San Simeon Pines is in a lovely area. There are many motels along Moonstone Drive right across from the ocean, but this resort is spacious with a golf course (more like a gopher hole course), croquet, a swimming pool (always too cold to swim), and beautiful gardens. It is an easy walk to the coastal boardwalk or down to a... More

This property, built in 1960, has obviously seen better days, but it was not run down or dirty in any way and has obviously seen some updating. Large screen TVs were nice to have in the evening. The room was spacious with a fireplace that was very nice as it was quite chilly when we were there. (Fuel provided). They... More

First, don't come thinking this is a resort hotel or for the golf. Maybe back in the day when this was built, it may have been considered a resort I don't know, as for golf, it's just an area to mess around in, not for a serious golfer. They do have shuffleboard and croquet areas, which are fun. The continental... More

My sister and I stayed at the San Simeon Pines Resort and very much enjoyed our experience. The property is beautiful and sprawling, at the north end of Moonstone Beach. I would call the resort charming and quaint - definitely dated, but the rooms are very large and clean. The breakfast was only adequate, but wasn't that important to us.... More

Good for the price. PROS: --Cheap --Good service - we were late. They say they close the office at 10pm but really they close it much sooner. We arrived before 10pm. But they had our room and key in an envelope tacked to the wall next to the office. --Clean - it is as clean as it could possibly be.... More

I stayed with my two sons, 9 and 12, for a trip to Hearst Castle, and we really enjoyed it. The room was comfortable, clean and clean smelling. It feels almost like you're in a cabin, and the beach is right across (or under) the road. After a long drive we unwound by playing shuffleboard, and there was also croquet... More

San Simeon Pines has a great location just a short walk from Moonstone Beach. It's also a pretty property sitting on several acres with many trees and even decent gardens. But this isn't enough to overcome its shortcomings. I did not have a reservation and when I asked the young woman at the front desk if there were any rooms... More

Been to Moonstone Beach many times and had never stayed at the Pines. It was the only place with a vacancy so we went for it. We really liked staying there. Our room had a fireplace. You have the feeling like you are staying in a cozy cabin. Really nice grounds that no other place has in that area. We... More

A great place to get away! Snuggled at the end of the road along Moonstone Beach, this hotel is definitely well-kept. It does not feel as commercial as the others on the strip, nor does it give the feel of a clone of some other property, as some of the others do. The front desk staff was very pleasant. While...
