This hotel must have been marketed all wrong! While it may be a decent spot for families (or not, compared to past reviews), it turned out to be a wonderful romantic getaway location! (A note about this review: There were several issues brought up in past reviews regarding various "negative" aspects of the hotel atmosphere and rooms. This review is... more

I stay at this hotel on a weekly basis for business. My room is always spotlessly clean and comfortable. The layout of the rooms is very conducive to spreading out-there is a sleeping area as well as a sitting area, seperated by french doors, with a desk to work from. The lobby is nice and the gym has updated machines... more

My family and I were in dana point for a baptism. We had a one bedroom Queen suite. The entrance to the room was through the bedroom which was unique. We used the pool, visited the beach, used valet parking, ate breakfast in the restaurant. All were enjoyable experiences. We visited the lounge on the roof ( without the children... more

The write up for the hotel suggests it is on the ocean front, it's certainly not. It is in the middle of two major roads and the nearest restaurants are a 15 minute walk away, via a camping ground, which is very poorly lit at night. Our upgraded seaview room actually overlooked a busy road, with the Ocean some way... more

Stayed in this hotel because it was the official hotel for a wedding I attended. Location is very strange....in between two lanes of the highway. Technically it was across the street from a beach, but you had to cross the street, walk down a driveway and through a campground to get there. The front desk staff were so horrible it... more

Stayed one night at hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Mattress a little too soft. Restaurant food was terrible. I travel quite a bit so I am used to middle of road food - but this was terrible. Chicken sandwich came on soggy bun, salad was overdressed and fries were crispy, soggy and not cooked all in the same bunch... more

We picked the DT because my brother's family was camping at the beach. The campground is literally right across the street, an easy walk to their campsite. To get the best price we paid in advance, made it very competitive. We had a suite with partial ocean view. There were four adults in the room and it was quite tolerable.... more

Although the room was a spacious suite, and clean, the bathroom was ridiculously small. We were on the 2nd floor from the top and our room had a great view, but there was no point in sitting on the balcony to enjoy it as any conversation was drowned out by the road noise from below (and exhaust fumes when traffic... more

I had business in Dana Point in August, 2009. I had a hard time finding a hotel in the area -- they were either very cheap and somewhat dingy looking or VERY expensive. So, I was happy when I stumbled upon the DoubleTree, which had the location and mid-range price that I was looking for. Compared to other hotels in... more

We were so excited to stay here, knowing that the suites were good for families. AAA rate was great, $188, $almost $23 for parking, but the rooms were very small, with low ceilings in the bathrooms. Bed was comfortable and view was decent. Only camping is between you and the ocean if you get an ocean room. Walls are paper... more
