We definitely have mixed feelings about this place. The grounds are rustic and beautiful and you can walk to the Sacramento River. Louie Dewey was very personable when making the reservations via telephone, but he quoted $59.00/night for a cabin on the telephone and we were charged $79.00/night for Sat/Sun and $59.00 for Monday. The cabin was clean and you... More

At first the proximity to the highway and the railroad left me grumpy, but after a few hours I was able to look past them. We stayed in one of the tiny cabins and could not have been happier. It was small, but very enjoyable. Our two kids (ages 2 & 4) slept in sleeping bags on the floor and... More

We stayed in one of the funky cabins with a small kitchen with a frig outside on the bacj porch.. The front porch furthers the 50's look with two painted steel chairs just like GrandPop had at the beach bungalow. All was clean and comfortable. Night chill was killed off by an efficient portable electric heater. Highway and train noise... More

We stayed over Labor Day weekend and were placed in the Blue Spruce modular unit. I am still incredulous that I actually paid money for this lodging experience. Had we not been with a large group, I would have turned around and driven the 4 hours back home. Our unit was filthy!! We discovered that our bed had not been... More

Let me start off by saying that this place will not suit everybody. We stayed in one of the on-site cabins dating from the 1920s. It was utterly charming and in remarkably good condition given its age. I imagine these were quite the thing when they first appeared! The cabin overlooked the Sacramento River which gushed and gurgles soothingly at... More

I would only stay at Cave Springs in the Lookout cabin. The rest of Cave Springs looked very run down but the cabin was excellent. The cabin has an older feel on the inside, with $5000 invested in updating the owners could rent this place out for more $ The views from the deck of the cabin was amazing! The... More

reading some of the reviews from previous notes we expected a quaint, older. cabin. Quaint?? I think not!! We had booked this many months ahead knowing we would be arriving late-asked for a cot to be there-it wasn't-the woman at at the desk told us to go around to the side of the office to "find " one and wheel... I rented a cabin. I expected rustic. What I got was a dump. The electrical outlets would not hold a plug so I was unable to charge my phone or my camera. I knew there was no AC but the one fan that was provided had to be plugged in next to the refrigerator because the other outlets were too... More

I wanted to check out Dunsmuir, mostly because the fishing is hyped up pretty good. It was over 90 degrees at 3:pm when we arrived and super humid. I had read on one review that the cabins did not have AC so I opted for the motel room, which had good AC and was cool when we opened the door.... More

Let me start off by saying that we did not spend the night at this place, so had we stayed, perhaps I would have had a more positive opinion. As is, my opinion is pretty low of the place. Here is our experience: We had booked one of the 2-BR mobile homes on the property. My vision of the mobile... More
