We stayed 4 nights at the Los Feliz Lodge in January 2019. We could park easily outside and the location was quiet and felt safe. Yet it was around 5 mins walk to the supermarket and local cinema and around 10 mins walk to lots of cafes and restaurants. There is a folder in the accommodation full of lots of useful information and recommendations for eateries. The accommodation was spacious with a nicely stocked kitchen, so that we could eat there and cook simple meals. It was also nice to have somewhere to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine. We were given a code to enter the accommodation so didn't need to formally check in to collect a key. It was also a 10 minute walk to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright house, Hollyhock House, which was well worth a visit.

The lodge is close to my son, so this is where we stay every visit to LA. We have stayed at a hotel in the past, which was awful. We have stayed in 3 different casitas and all were very clean and well maintained. Jacob and his siblings take very good care of the property and if you need anything, they are quick to respond. There is keyless entry to the property, which makes it safe, I think. The neighborhood is ok Just be careful about where you walk and time of day. We walked to Vita coffee every morning and had a great cup of joe. I will definitely stay here again.

Located on a quiet residential street, Los Feliz Lodge offers an oasis from the traffic and glitz of LA. A small terraced garden (with the largest sage plants I have ever seen) led up to the front door. Inside was spacious with a full kitchen, a large living room, and a smallish but very comfortable bedroom with ample closet space. The bathroom was on the small side as expected in an "older" building but did had enough space to store necessities (we are light travelers). There is a common courtyard in the back which is private and delightful. We also had a small porch outside the front door where we enjoyed wine and cheese while overlooking the neighborhood and the hills beyond. Within a few blocks you happen on to Sunset Boulevard which can take you anywhere in LA. The immediate neighborhood (off Sunset) has lots of restaurants to explore as well grocery stores and interesting shops. We felt like we were in a small town within LA - very comfy and peaceful.

If you are the type of person who loves to travel the world and stay in indigenous inns, you won’t find a better place in L.A. than the Los Feliz Lodge. We indeed keep coming back for their delightful accommodations while visiting near-by family. Most recently we stayed in Villa 1501 which we think is their very best accommodation. Although I’m not sure of the exact details, the lodge was developed by Jacob and his family about 2008 by buying several adjacent duplex single-story, Spanish-style stucco apartment buildings and converting them into delightful “villas” and “casitas.” As their excellent website portrays, the exterior bright colors and details make you want to move in and settle down for a long stay. We’ve also stayed in Villa 1503, their other villa. Of the two villas, we prefer 1501 for its better sunlight and slightly better kitchen layout. They also have four casitas. We have stayed several times in the Green Casita, their smallest, when one of the villas was not available. Besides the charm of the exteriors, the interiors retain their also charming probable 1930-40’s demeanor, which the Lodge calls a “hip but home-like setting.” They have been painted with appealing, lively colors and furnished with comfortable, period-appropriate furniture. Both villas have a bedroom with king-size mattress, living room, dining room, bath and full kitchen with washer/dryer. Best guess is that the casitas are about 600 square feet and the villas are about 1,000. Although the apartments are self-catering, you can ask for a clean-up during your stay for a small fee. Jacob and his family are also easily available if there is a problem or you need advice. On our last stay, Jacob came right away when we had trouble with our villa’s front door lock. Since there is no “check-in” because each entry door has a pre-assigned push-button code, you may not see anyone from the family. I think that is a unfortunate, because they are a delight to chat with. Because of their popularity, booking early is important if you want a particular villa or casita. My own sense is that you should aim for one of the villas to have somewhat more room and amenities for relatively little more money. This review will not dwell on the pleasures and conveniences of Los Feliz and surrounding area. The Lodge’s website and other Trip Advisor reviews do an excellent job of that. The whole area is without exaggeration magical!

Booked this for our stay in the LA area. Great central location to friends and things we wanted to do around the LA area. Love that it is a little apartment with plenty of room. Our "Red Casita" had it's own outdoor space as well. Definitely recommend this place and we cannot wait to go back and stay there again. There is street parking, but we absolutely no problem getting a parking spot at different times day or night.

Los Feliz Lodge is within walking distance from the bars, shops, and restaurants of the Los Feliz neighborhood, and is close to major roads to get to other LA sights. Roomy with a living area, small kitchen, bed and bathroom. Each "apartment" is different, so check your options online. It is a self check in place, but friendly and helpful manager Jacob is on site most of the time. Kitchen utensils provided. While close to major attractions, the lodge is in a quiet neighborhood a couple of blocks off the main drag. It is not a fancy place - most of the decor and furniture looks like estate sale stuff, and may not be the most comfortable. Each unit has access to an outdoor seating area, and the entire lodge is security gated. Generally easy to find parking nearby on street.

We stayed in the Green Casita which had a separate queen bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. Located in a quiet residential area with plenty of on street parking. Very friendly and helpful owners on the premise. ENJOY!

I really wanted to love this place and it is pretty nice. First, we showed up before check-in time so I called Jacob and he was very nice and let us store our bags in the closet of our room (Green Casita) until it was ready. The rooms are nice and well appointed but when we walked in, it was freezing. The air conditioner was set to 61. Later, I figured out that they probably do that because it does not work well at higher settings (it will cycle on for just 20 seconds and then shut off for several minutes so the room does not cool much). The other issue was the towels. The bath towels were barely bigger than hand towels and very scratchy. I usually like bamboo but these are terrible. Everything else was great and I like the neighborhood.

We absolutely loved this spot. Perfect location for visiting our son in Los Feliz. We could walk to the grocery store, coffee shop and cute restaurants. Even took in a movie at the darling theater down the street. The place was spotless and they thought of everything - hair dryer, iron, washing machine and dryer. Highly recommend this spot at half the cost of a downtown hotel.

I heard about this place from a colleague and decided to try it. I'm very pleased. The Green Casita is adorable and the complex is a 12 min walk to the Metro and to the Los Feliz business district with its fun and funky shops/restaurants. Good bed, good shower, nice to have space for sitting etc. I did not use the kitchen, but great to have it available. I had some complexities come up with travel/arrival due to weather issues in my home city, and the innkeeper was so patient and calm and flexible with me as I worked through all of that. I was so grateful. Booking and check-in process are awesome. The "lost star" is only because the sitting room furniture is a little worn and minimal. I loved my 4 nights here and would recommend it to anyone who seeks an authentic, local, artsy way to enjoy urban LA.
