I attended a 3-day conference at this hotel & was very disappointed. Room was clean & staff was friendly but it stopped there. Bed was uncomfortable, Lighting was very poor, there was no make-up mirror or full-length mirror. The conference room was ok but poorly maintained. Service for our conference by the staff was extremely poor & I would not... More

Pleasant enough motel/hotel just off main road to San Fran but did not seem to suffer from any noise. Pleasant pool and very close drive to all the Monterey attractions. Good staff recommended excellent local resteraunts. Room was a little small compared to others we had on our trip, bed was ok but we never did succeed in getting onto... More

My husband and I spent the weekend in Monterey at the Hilton Garden Inn. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and had all the amenities, except for a fridge. We used the hotel as our jumping off spot for the Aquarium, Salinas, Pebble Beach and Point Lobos. Although none of those are within walking distance, driving... More

We appreciate your positive review of our staff and guest rooms! I'm glad you got to see a few of the very special attractions here on the Monterey Peninsula! Point Lobos is so beautiful! Not sure how you missed the refrigerator in your guest room, all the rooms have the mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker in our hospitality center as... More

I am a frequent traveler of hilton hotels. When i am in the santa cruz/monterey/carmel area i usually stay in the scotts valley hilton. However, i wanted to try another location. I feel completly mislead by the hilton website that describes their beds. I know what to expect from hilton and hampton but this is my first hilton garden inn... More

We are terribly sorry that you had such a bad experience. It is unfortunate that you did not tell us these things when you got to your room so we could have moved you to a room without a shared balcony and a more comfortable bed. Our King sized beds have air adjustments so the firmness can be modified, and... More

This motel is perfectly located for access to key Monterey attractions, specifically the Aquarium, Cannery Row and Fisherman's warf. The room was spacious, very clean, appointed with fridge and microwave and the adjustable king bed was extremely comfortable. The only complaint I had was that the blower for the heater was a bit loud and disturbing. This was much less... More

Thank you for your almost perfect review! We are thrilled how much you liked our location and the room amenities including the comfortable adjustable bed. We apologize for the noisy heater fan. Your timing to see the whales migrating in January was ideal, and truly a sight to behold! We look forward to your return! More

I travel cross-country and stay at Hilton properties as often as possible. I usually am happy with Hilton Garden hotels as most are of newer architecture. I'm surprised to see the high ratings given, but I guess these are based on the affordable price. I selected this based on brand and location during overnight stayover, rather than tourist attractions. The... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience here at HGI. We apologize for not providing a more excellent experience. Thanks for your winning suggestion recommending that guests not wanting to use stairs to ask for guest rooms close to one of our elevators, which can take the guest from the underground parking garage right up to their... The hotel room was very good with comfy beds. Our checkin time was printed as 3 pm but hotel staff said the real check in is at 4 pm but in a few minutes got us a room at 1 pm itself. Staff is very friendly and you can ask them about local attractions. Heated pool and sauna is great... More

From the first 5 minutes until the last, this place boasted cleanliness and friendliness! The ladies at the front desk were extremely helpful and their dinner recommendation was fantastic!! The rooms were quite big, clean, and had quite a few extras- large bathroom, microwave, small fridge and a bed where you can choose how soft or hard you want each... More

Hotel is conveniently located (5-10 minute drive) to all the attractions in Monterey like the Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. Its also relatively affordable. The first time we entered the room, there was a stale smell, which went away after opening the windows for an hour or so. Another problem is the noisy air conditioning. The thermostat doesnt allow you... More

Monterey is expensive and this hotel can offer a decent value for the money, but disabled visitors beware: access is awkward at best. The lobby is upstairs, there are no ground floor rooms, and the only direct elevator access is from the underground parking lot, but those elevators require a room key. There are ramps, but the ramps lead to... More

Thanks for taking the time to review HGI Monterey. You are correct, it is awkward for guests with special needs staying at our hotel upon arrival. When you return, please let us know in advance so we can block a room very close to the lobby on the first floor during the summer and 2nd floor during the winter to... More
