This is the former Air Force Lodge of McClellan Air Force Base. When the base closed the Lodge was converted into a hotel. It has great rooms including VIP rooms, a good breakfast buffet and dining room. The Coast Guard still operates an Air Sea Rescue base at the closed Air Force Base. The Coast Guard Aviation Assoc held a... More

My hubby & I stayed here for 3 nights. We got a great rate with his Veterans discount. The room was very clean, nice sized, comfy bed & pillows. The hot breakfast was very good, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pastries, fruit with coffee & tea. Management was nice, very helpful, when we checked in there was an issue with their... More

I'll start with the good parts: The room, though tiny, was clean and pleasant enough. And the breakfast buffet was surprisingly good, and did not require a fight-to-the-death to get to the food like one typically experiences at places like Embassy Suites, etc. HOWEVER: They were overbooked, and did not have the rooms they had promised people. Their dubious efforts... More

I was recently in Sacramento where I was speaking at a conference, and my hosts arranged for me to stay at the Lions Gate. I have to say that I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. My room was clearly recently renovated, and was spacious, super-modern, and well-decorated. I had a suite, and being from San Francisco, it was... More

You will be staying in a circa 1970's recycled BOQ/VOQ (bachelor/visiting officers quarters) dorm from the BRAC'ed McCllean AFB. While I have stayed here since they took over, I grit my teeth every time I reserve a room, which will be the longest reservation process you ever endured. I only stay here because the airfield is super convenient for general... More

This was a first stay of its kind for me, as the property was originally part of an Air Force base. The lobby has photos of the property in it's previous incarnation, along with some descriptive material. My room was quite ordinary, nothing all that distinctive. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room. The included hot breakfast... More

Stayed here for a total of 4 weeks, for training; each requiring a check in every Monday, checking out Friday, so each week I had a different room. One of the weeks the room I had was a fricken closet. Ridiculously tiny. The window in the restroom allowed anyone to see in. Can't be that difficult to cover it somehow.... More

We had a great time over the weekend. The hotel is on the airforce base which gives it an interesting feel. You can stay in some of the old officer's quarters that look like little homes. We stayed in the executive suites that have been recently renovated. The front desk stated they remodeled a few of them just 2 weeks... More

I just returned home from a recent business trip. The check in process was smooth, though it would help if there was an extra person helping out the lone receptionist there. This is an older place as was evident by the room. I did like the old Air Force photos throughout the room, though I didn't know if they were... More

They call this a boutique hotel. Does that mean small rooms? The room we had was an old officers quarters and was the smallest room I have ever had. The bed was a full and was positioned two feet from the door. There was not an elevator and we were on the second floor. The good stuff is that the... More
