Stayed there for a night after a long ride from Morro Bay. Planned to stay at Monterey, but it was too expensive. Howard Johnson at Salinas was not to far (25 minutes away), at a very reasonable price. Free WiFi. Lots of parking. Small breakfast included. If you're on the road, consider this one...

Hotel overall was so so. Price was great, neighborhood not so great! Area seemed to familiar for prostitution as we seen a few pulling in to town. Room was clean.

This hotel on the "old" side and shows it. But the managment obviously tries hard and were very responsive to any prblems that came up. The area is the old "historic" area of downtown Salinas and I enjoyed walking around and trying the small, privately owned restaurants downtown.
