Going to the Monterey/Salinas area on the spur of the moment in mid August is a bad idea. There's the Monterey Fair, Coucours d"eleganance and some other car show. We found our only viable hotel choices were the Radisson for $300+/night or the Salinas Travel Inn for $150/night for two double beds. We took our chances and went with the... More
