Such history for me with this hotel! One of the first "nice hotels" I got the pleasure of saying at while on tour years ago! Still h as great elegance and charm:) great location. Great view. Great linens and bed. Walking distance to everything! Love the staff and feel of it all.

The main floor is beautiful, but the rest of the hotel shows its age. Dirty carpets do not show character in my opinion. We chose this hotel because we prefer historic hotels to chain lodgings. The foyer and entry room were very nice. This hotel was typical of the genre. Service was average, valet was attentive and the room had old world charm. The restaurant in the hotel had good food but really poor service. We would stay here again.

Second favorite place to stay when on business in San Jose. The staff is just exceptional : knowledgable, helpful, and they know the area. There's only one drawback: thin walls. It's an old building, beautifully maintained, but noise can be a problem.
