Rocked up to this hostel today and was turned away until 5pm when I could check in. I've stayed in HI and YHA across the world and never have I known this rule. But what I really don't understand is why? Surely the staff member that turned me away could have spent 5 minutes checking me in. Paid for sitting... More

Great area. Lots of parking. Very clean rooms- I stayed in 6 male room. Showers and toilets cleaned regularly. Great value. Staff were very kind. Met very cool ppl staying here. Downsides: curfew at 12am, have to be out from 11a-5p. Highly recommend!

While job interviewing, remained here for a few unexpected, extended nights. Lovely and comfortable restored vintage estate in a lovely and well-kept neighborhood. Very clean. Staff friendly, welcoming, efficient. The estate park-like grounds are open to the public and Hostelers for day use (building access closed 11am-5pm). Great kitchens and laundry facilities. One revels in the "barking" of the wharf... More

As with many HI's in the USA there is an alcohol ban and a curfew, as well as restricted access to facilities during the day for cleaning. However, once you look past these annoyances, the location is fanastic, although you do have to pay extra for a parking pass, and the communal areas are well equipped. The main kitchen is... More

Stayed here for two nights and had a great time. The rooms were clean and spacious and the little cottages with dorms in were lovely! The staff were extremely helpful after my friend had severe sun stroke. Santa Cruz is a really nice place, the hostel is within walking distance of the beach, downtown area and greyhound bus station. Would... More

We booked in for 3 nights but stayed an extra 2 we had a private room for $55 a night, it was a good size and seems really clean. It was only 5 mins walk down a short slope to beach and sea front. The town was 10 mins walk with lots of cool shops and huge trader joes super... More

We spent 3 nights in a private room here, and it worked out great! We had workshops during the day, so the fact that they close the place during the day didn't matter to us. It's in a nice residential area (beautiful old houses!!), and not too far from the beach or tons of restaurants. Our room was very basic.... More

We just arrive from San Luis Obispo (not good experience with that hi hostel) to Santa Cruz, and, we are very happy in this hostel. Very Kindly staff, good location and prefect rooms. The only bad thing is that the hostel closed between 11 to 5. Good value if you are thinking to stay in Santa cruz for a few... More

Stayed here for just one night in a private four person room. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were comfy. Although we didn't make use of them, the hostel appeared to have good communal facilities such as a kitchen and laundry room. The one annoyance was that the hostel 'closes' between 11am and 5pm - not great... More
