We came at the wrong time of the year! It was right after a snow storm, and we did not come with snowshoes and proper snow-apparel! So, we were able to walk across the frozen water a little bit, but there wasn't much else for us to do due to the snow. We basically drove the road of the park... More

The views are breathtaking, although there aren't many trees. We tent camp there several times a year and rent a cabin over Fall Break. Stargazing, especially in mid- late August and October during the week prior to and after meteor showers are UNREAL. I guarantee you haven't seen anything like it, unless you've stargazed showers in the desert. There is... More

We found this park while planing a trip out west from the Chicago area. Was the only park on I-70 we could find reservations for at the time. We only needed a place to sleep for the night so our requirements were few. Was quite a drive from I-70 some in town some on asphalt but most on a gravel... More

The only thing to do here was fish and some small hikes. We stayed two nights and our kids got bored after the first day. They do have canoes you can rent but, the lake is small so you can navigate the entire lake pretty quickly. The campsites are nice although if you are tent camping you will need to... More

All the reviews are pretty much correct above. This campground has a lot of pros: nice lake, bike / hiking trails around lake, secluded location. BUT What none of the reviews above mention is that this is an extremely family oriented place. After reading the reviews the boyfriend and I came here to escape and relax. We were super excited... We camped at Sylvan Lake last fall in an RV, and had 2 ATVs with us. The views are beautiful and you can ride your ATV from your campsite to miles and miles of ATV trails. It was a great weekend! Should probably keep it a secret, though!

We got there almost at sunset when we found that someone stole our campsite. The rangers went to deal with it and their solution was for us to switch. It was a little irritating that I was being punished for others selfishness. We discussed and they seemed that was the only way until I told them I would write a... More

We stayed only 2 nights in Yurt. Wish it had been all week! Comfortable twin beds, roomy, great quiet location. Perfect for star gazing at night. Old cabins on site. Vault toilet kept very clean. Lake is beautiful and while tent sites are not shaded, there are cabins on the lake to rent. Can't wait to go back.
