The room was cold with a very poor shower. The service is below par and the owner always seams put out if you ask for anything. Cyclist doing the c2c don't bother asking for breakfast before 8am because the response is dreadful.

Superb warm welcome by the fireside after a rainy day on the C2C ride. Excellent food and service. Lovely bedroom and the landlord went out of his way to help us by giving us a lift into town adn going the extra mile to see that we were all right after a mishap.

The food and drink are very good. The landloard is friendly as are the locals, but.....they are noisy when still drinking at 01:45 in the morning. Just the place for a stopover when travelling from or to Scotland or even linger longer. Spotlessly clean room. An interesting menu and well cooked, tasty food, breakfast was also superb. A relaxed atmosphere, friendly locals, helpful welcoming staff and landlord.

We visited this pub while staying at Wetheral Cottages and what a lovely experience! The staff and locals were so friendly. The atmosphere was so relaxed and the food was second to none. Will definitely be going back for their exceptionally tasing food. What a lovely place.

Meant to review this place a long time ago ..Did coast to coast in sept last year ..turned up at the pub absolutely wet through thanks to lake district weather.
