Stayed here for one night - it is an oasis of tranquility! Lovely welcoming staff, beautiful bedroom with old beams complete with en suite roll top. Dinner at hotel was 5*. A lovely break from the hustle and bustle of city life with the most stunning scenery and great walks.

we went for sunday lunch last sunday the beef was very fluff and cheap cut of beef and not very nice at all the roast spuds were tastless and very hard to cut there were dogs on the next table and its not very nice when eating the services was very slow and the places smelt of dogs we live... More

Visited the Hotel 3 times whilst on holiday in the area. On each occasion found the staff cheerful and very accommodating. Food was of a very high standard, always hot and well presented. On certain menu items they also did ' half portions ' for those with smaller appetites, something that was much appreciated by my wife who found this... More

Cheap and cheerful lunch [ choice of 2 courses- starter/main/pudding] for a tenner.. what more could you ask for?. Home made lamb hotpot with fresh crusty bread and pickled red cabbage followed by a large portion of their own stick toffee pudding with deeelicious sauce and ice cream. Plenty of outside seating at front of pub and adjacent beer garden... More

We were very impressed with this pub/Inn. Service was brilliant, room was lovely and clean, location superb and so peaceful and the food both at dinner and breakfast was really good. Would stay here again if we ever came back to the Lakes.

We have just returned from the most perfect weekend at The Hare and Hounds. Excellent room, with a beautiful bathroom. Spotlessly clean, and everything that we needed was there. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, and the food was second to none. We would recommend this hotel to everyone, really, really lovely ,just sad we didn't stay longer.

I stayed here for seven days with my dog Becky & two friends. We did stay here last year for five days so we knew what to expect and we certainlywere not disappointed. Kerry, her family and staff could not be more helpful. The accommodation and food were excellent. We did not want to leave!

Lucky cartmel, to have two excellent pubs so close together. This pub just edges over The Mason's Arms, in that the dining rooms are larger, and it is easier to park. On a day of solid rain, this pub was a cosy haven; the lamb hot pot was generous in size and delicious. Do book ahead!

We only visited for a meal but the food was very good, its a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere. The chicken supreme was excellent and the home made chutney on the cheeseboard was superb. The service was a bit slow but it was quite busy for a Tuesday night but everything was worth the wait.
