The Tufenkian Hotels in Armenia are known for their majestic design and architecture. And this location is no exception! The rooms are fantastic, along with the scenic landscape. The food is decent traditional Armenian cuisine. Room prices are very reasonable. Only disclaimer, is that this hotel is not in Yerevan and requires a 2.5-3.5 drive depending on your transportation from... More

I stgayed at the Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget Hotel for one night as part of a tour of Armenia. The hotel is located in a very steep valley, close to a river. The scenary is beautiful even if a little claustrophibic. The hotel is in a very beautiful old building, perfectly refurbished with natual materials. A lot of stone and wood... More

Summary - Hotel on river in the Debed valley, unexpected, slightly isolated location for a hotel, but so much better than anything else within the region it is worth using it as a base. pos - excellent hotel, good value for price; pos - excellent rooms, nice, super clean, well organized; pos - huge bath! my first in Armenia. pos... We were on a tour of Armenia and Georgia. This hotel is near the border with Georgia and by a river. The rooms are very well appointed with good freebies and very comfortable beds. We had a farewell dinner in the hotel - which was plentiful and tasty. Service a bit slow- but still an amzing place if you happen... More

Would definitely stay again if the restaurant food were to improve. Had two lunches and dinners and sampled several dishes. Service was great, but food was not impressive, especially considering the price. The Armenian barbecue was the worst I've ever had in 2 years in Armenia with tough and flavorless meat. Dolma was ok. Bread was old and dry. Pool... More

Fine hotel. Excellent location. Stayed there twice, 1st time in 2010. We had a room in the main building which was fine. Stayed again for 2 nights this year as part of a tour and we got a room in a newly build separate building. Room 52.The room on the top of a tower with windows on the four sides... More

This hotel has a lot to offer. Nice modern rooms. Excellent service of waiters and reception personnel. Very good restaurant with traditional dishes but really fine cooked. Good breakfast. Nice bar so you can drink something. Swimming pool and possibility to swim. We can advice this hotel without any doubt.

NOTE: This is NOT in Yerevan! It's a lovely place to stay, but a good 3 hours north of the capital! The Tufenkian was a great place to retire for the evening and rest up for a day of exploring the monasteries (and numerous abandoned Soviet era factories) dotted throughout the Lori province. We sat outside by the gushing river... More

Surrounded by the mountains, near the river, this kind of a castle with the exterior made of stone, was the most beautiful hotel I've seen in Armenia. The room I had was located on the last floor and had a sort of dinning room with sofa before the sleeping room, the nice bathroom in really modern style, and the wonderful... More
