Superb boutique resort offering the solitude and comfort not to be found in a larger venue. The attentive but not overbearing staff make us feel pampered. Their insight and suggestions as to dining, recreation and sight seeing in the Keys is invaluable. The accomodations are splendid..each one unique and immaculate. Sunsets on the pier are priceless, the quietude afforded by... more

Stayed at Kona Kai as a stop over both going to Key West and returning. We really enjoyed our stays and wished that we had chosen to stay longer on one leg of the trip. The hotel has its own private waterfront and beach area. It was made for us by a manatee just drifting along to the floating dock... more

Booked this in April for a trip in November, based on Lonely Planet recommendation and the resort's website. Tracey, the resort manager, could not have been more helpful - when we arrived she had remembered a phone conversation with my spouse at the time of booking, and had upgraded us at no extra cost from a room to a full... more

My husband and I have stayed at the Kona Kai at least 6 times over the past 4 years. We used to stay in other places in the Keys, but nothing compares. The staff (Bobbi and Tracie,as well as Veronika) are terrific. They make us feel like family. We always stay in the Pineapple Suite. My husband scubas every day,... more

Stayed for our honeymoon in June, beautiful grounds were quite private. We stayed in the breadfruit room which had a great view of the water, easy access to the beach, hammock, pool and jacuzzi. We had plenty of space in our room, the bed was comfy and the temperature was nice inside when getting out of the heat and humidity.... more

My husband and I were searching for the perfect place to stay for our stay in the Keys. We researched for a month to finally decide on the Kona Kai and we were not disappointed. In fact, we ended up being quite delighted with our stay. We had spent quite a bit of time planning out the things we wanted... more

We stayed at Kona Kai for one night during our road tour of the Keys in March. We hadn't booked - just stopped in early evening to see if they had a room available, and happily they did as it was the best of all the places we stayed in the Keys. To start with, the lady at reception was... more

Don't let the pictures fool you. The Kona Kai website makes it seem as if the place was a secluded sanctuary. It is but only if you wear blinders and earplugs. The property was tightly wedged between two other vacation properties. The cottages at Kona Kai were nice although some of the decor were out of place (dining room light... more

“MsDove” and her [former] boyfriend had a lovers spat here at Kona Kai in November and terminated their reservation early. “MsDove” wanted a refund – none was forthcoming and this review is the result. Need we say more. . . ?

There is no question that this is a gorgeous and unique property - I am pretty sure there is nothing like it in Key Largo. We used almost everything - the kayak, the hammock, the pool, the ping-pong table, even the tennis courts. We definitely had a blast and enjoyed our time even though we were there only for one... more
