Unit #8 is definitely well appointed with all your family beach needs, super clean and comfortable. Gail our host is very C-19 Conscious using disinfectant cleaners from the tile floors up to the ceiling fans. We were very impressed with this cleanliness! A short walk to the sand we love the beach and really enjoyed our stay. For the best fine food Euphemia Haye is a must for us whenever visiting LBK! Also don’t miss Mar Vista for excellent outside waterfront dining! We went for lunch on Pirates Day and all the boaters were dressed in their Pirates Best! What a Hoot! We will be back!

We just returned from Cabana Beach Club #2 and we are already planning our return for next year. Everything we needed is available, the unit is clean, updated and comfortable. The grounds are kept up daily and the pool is very pleasant and clean as well. We LOVED this unit and our week at Cabana Beach Club.

Our family stayed here for a vacation stay. Great property. Close to the beach, BBQ grill area, and a nice pool. Parking is a little tight but manageable. Wish the pool was within view of the gulf. We enjoyed LBK and look forward to returning.

Charming units on the gulf side, steps away from the beach. Pool and laundry facilities on property. Small complex, quiet and quaint. Longboat Key is a wonderful white sand beach you are able to walk for miles and look for shells. Area has great restaurants nearby.

I love staying here. Quaint and quite. Close to everything , yet far away from the noise. A little oasis on Longboat Key. Staff is friendly. Units clean and well distributed for large groups. Never a bad moment the last 3 years. Book daily or weekly.

This is a delightfully decorated 1 bedroom cottage steps from the bay and across the street from the beach and pool. It has a well-equipped full kitchen that is impeccably clean. Right after arriving I was enjoying a glass of wine on the dock just feet away from my doorstep. It was incredibly peaceful except for the fish jumping. I wish we could stay longer!

This unit is managed by Resort Vacation Accommodations (RVA). It would be a great unit if it was properly maintained. Pros: 1) beautiful unit with a porch on the canal; we saw manatees in the canal, it was very nice 2) property is nice and you feel on vacation 3) unit is spacious with a bedroom and a big living room with kitchen 4) Wifi provided 5) walking distance from pool and beach 6) lounge chairs provided at the beach; we saw dolphins in the ocean 7) BBQs provided 8) quick response on reporting maintenance issues (one you spend 15 minutes on the phone) Cons: 1) The dishes provided as part of the kitchen were dirty; they were put away in the cabinet, yet, when we took them out, most had old dirty food in them; it was very unpleasant and we had to clean all the dishes from other's people food. 2) Landline phone in bedroom was not working (no dial tone) 3) Landline phone in living room had so much static it could not be used; we could not hear anything 4) The unit is advertised as sleeping 3 adults as the sofa is a pull out queen bed; this was the most horrific pull out sofas I've experienced in my life; I could only lay on it for 5 minutes as it was so painful and pushing into my back in the wrong areas. I ended up closing the bed and sleeping on the sofa itself four nights in a row. 5) Lamp in bedroom was constantly flickering on/off 6) Garbage Can lid was broken so it kept falling off and could not prevent bad smell from spreading 7) when we arrived, the front patio had not been cleaned; the table was very dirty; there was spilled drinks on the floor; large ants EVERYWHERE. we would sit for dinner outside and had ants all over us. I'm from Florida and with appropriate pest control, this can be prevented 8) Two beach umbrellas were provided for the beach; once we got to the beach and opened the umbrellas in the hot sun, we realized one was broken and did not work; 9) when we arrived, the french doors leading to the canal would not open; they were stuck 10) Maintenance Phone Number provided is a nationwide 800 number; this means that when you call the agent doesn't even know what property you're located in; we called twice, each call took about 15 minutes to report the issue, property name, address, state, etc... 11) Used cigarettes from previous smokers were left in the grass in the back porch from previous renters; housekeeping didn't clean anything 12) some old, totally rusty, clothe holder was left outside on the back porch; I'm not even sure why it was even there; it served no purpose other than to degrade the unit even further. We called maintenance about two issues, the french doors not opening and the dirty front porch/ants on porch; because each call took 15 minutes, we gave up reporting the other maintenance issues; however, once we reported the issues, someone from maintenance was there within 10 minutes. The door issue was fixed; the front porch was cleaned but nothing was done about the ants. In the end, we have to invest $6 in the ant spray and $20 on a beach umbrella at the local market. And as an FYI, the ant spray worked like a charm. While the location was great and the unit could be an amazing unit, the poor maintenance and poor housekeeping are deal breakers.

Response from RVAFlorida, Manager at Cabana Beach Club

We were dissapointed to hear of this guests recent experience at Cabana Beach Club. A member of our management team is working with the new owner of this unit to make some upgraded changes, however a thorough walk thru of the unit found the front patio to be in a clean condition and several of the items mentioned functioning fine. We did purchase a new trash can and removed the rusted items mentioned that were left by a previous guest and should have been removed if they did not work. RVA, our local management company, does use an 800 number because we have over 7 check-in locations throughout Longboat Key & Siesta Key. We also have an inventory of close to 300 units often all booked up over the summer, so in order to make a timely maintenance call we do ask that guests be specific in what unit they are staying in when they call for service. However, unless the guest is calling after business hours they will get a live person located on the island. Our after hours service will also contact our on-call team member in the event there is an emergency, so our team is available 24/7 to service our guests needs.

This is the worst vacation experience ever! Unit #5 was filthy! Had to use a "Mr Clean Eraser" to get dirt off the toilet seat and mold on shower curtain was disgusting! There was grape jelly on the top 2 plates in the cabinet! Yes, I have pictures and I showed them to Jeff at RVA!

My 2x kids and Wife and I stayed in unit #4 from 01/18/15 to 01/21/15. We got to the real estate company to check in around 4pm, We were told the keys were not ready till 5. (no big deal, really) We were tired but it was ok. We got our keys around 5pm. Went to the rental. It looked like an older 60-70's property that needed updating. lighting was poor and the pool that we passed is very small but too deep for small kids and looked to be abandoned. got into the room after 2x flights of stairs. (no problem for a young family but it could be) We put our bags down, looked outside and it really is a spectacular view of the ocean right from the living room. ( however, I don't like the mosquito net on the balcony preventing any kind of descent photography) Living room was great but it did have the old tube style tv. Internet didn't work so I called the Real estate/management company the next day due to no customer service after 5pm. They said to try the code on the side of the router and that they did not know what it was.... So.... no internet! period! I tried and tried and tried, nope! I didn't let it ruin our trip but I was frustrated. Second, I went to load the groceries into the fridge and turned around and ANTS! Ants everywhere! The little ones! Normally, I would have checked out and never looked back, but there was no vacancy in any place better in the area, also, I felt duped due to the fact that I had to pre-pay for our stay before checking in. (that should have tipped me off) Third thing, after seeing the ants, it made us check our beds closely, we found pubic hair in the master bed. Yuck! Fourth, no cable or any way to use the TV's in the bedrooms. We paid over $1000 (after tax) for 3.5 days for the view and a roof over our heads. That may be ok for some but I would have paid someone $1500+ for an actual resort had any rooms been available.

Response from RVAFlorida, Manager at Cabana Beach Club

We were disappointed to hear of this recent guests stay at Cabana Beach Club. Our check-in policy is advertised as 4 PM, and our records show this guest was checked in at 4:13 PM. Although this guest booked their stay through Expedia, a typical hotel service provider, the property is listed as a condominium under a hotel category with the description of "condominium" throughout the text. The property and grounds are well-maintained and cleaned four times a week by a professional landscape company in partnership with the on-site management company, RVA. The pool is a standard sized pool for a community of this size - and the depth ratio is also standard in that it is not too deep for small children as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The mention of a mosquito net is actually a lanai or covered patio, the standard practice in this area of Florida. Lanai's are typical throughout this area to reduce bugs - in fact most would be hard pressed to find a condominium or home without one instead of with. They are built with the comfort of those residing in mind to be an aid, not a nuisance. The furnishings of the particular unit mentioned have been well-maintained over the years, however the unit is classified as a Bronze on the RVA rating system and therefore price marked appropriately to reflect those offerings. Our records do not indicate the guest contacting our office with reports of an ant problem or an Internet issue. Our hope for future guests is that issues be brought to our attention during their stay so we have the opportunity to provide an appropriate resolution prior to departure.

Managed by RVA/Resort Vacation Accommodations on Longboat Key, the Cabana Beach Club is a fairly affordable but also upscale (compared to a typical motel) location on the northern end of LBK. It has units on both the ocean side and canal side of Gulf of Mexico drive. The units on the canal side, where we always stay, afford the vacationer the ability to have a chance of seeing Manatees, Dolphins and other sea life right outside the back door while still just an easy walk across the street to the beach. The grounds are always well kept at Cabana Beach Club and the amenities such as pool, shared onsite laundry, free parking, and a spacious congregation area with tables and grills. The unit we stayed in, #11, features a separate bedroom, full kitchen, and large living area with combo couch/pull out bed. The place is easily large enough for a family of 4 or 5.
