This was our first stay at Silver Sands. We love Longboat Key, but we wanted to stay for a shorter period and the place we normally stay will not let you stay for less than a week. We found Silver Sands and booked our room, 251A. We knew that it was a small room and it was, but it served it's purpose. It was clean and enough room for us to do what we needed to do. The grounds were great, access to the beach was awesome. Chairs, umbrellas and beach towels were supplied. It would have been nice to have an ice machine on property for rooms like ours that doesn't have a full size fridge, but not a deal breaker. It was a nice little getaway in paradise. We had no issues at all and interaction with office was phenomenal. I would recommend this location and we will definitely stay here again.

Our family has been going to Silver Sands for 25 years; the beach is amazing! The rooms need a facelift and should include all items as advertised. No coffee filters or cups in 253A & 255A. Also, 255A needs a bigger tv (22” in the room). We will return, however, we will choose different rooms. Things have definitely changed over the years and now the rooms are individually owned and obviously kept to differing standards. The rooms that overlook the pool/beach seem nicer but are, of course, more expensive.

We rented unit 245A. Overall we enjoyed it. The room appeared to be recently updated. The paint looked fresh, the mattress was comfortable, and the furnishings looked good. The problem areas were the toaster was broken, one of the sliding shower doors wouldn’t slide due to black mildew buildup in the track, and the bedside table lamps both had loose lightbulb sockets that left the bulbs leaning sideways when the switch was turned. The exterior of the property was very nice. The tropical gardens were beautiful and the location on the beach is excellent.

Reasonably priced in the absurdly priced Longboat Key. Pool and common areas were always sparkling clean. Manager Margaret was always busy busy busy seeing to it guests were taken care of. Quiet beach area with little foot or boat traffic. Overall a great stay

Great location! Literally 40 steps to the beach from our room! Very nice pool area, well maintained and clean. Peggy the guest receptionist was helpful and accommodating. If you are looking for a laid back area this is the place to come. We will definitely be back

Week long stay in 241A, window still had hurricane shade covering only window (feb) and was very dark, hard to see in there and not what you come to the beach for. There was black mold in the shower area which made you wonder how clean rest of room was. There were no beach umbrellas as advertised. Many of the beach lounge chairs were ripped and discolored, need thrown and replaced. This was one of the few units that still had a window air conditioner, which was rather inefficient even in mild 70 degree weather, but felt we had to run to get dampness out of room. Most other units now had central air. We did not use housekeeping and feel we are pretty low maintenance guests. When we did ask for towels were told by manager that they didn't have any right now and seemed bothered to help us. They have tons of clean towels with on site laundry, but wouldn't walk to get some and got mad when we asked housekeeping if we could grab our own. You definitely need your own vehicle at this location as public transportation not as advertised either. Lyft and Uber hard to find this time of year as they get slowed down on bridges and avoid area. The best thing about the property is the beach! With almost no other resorts in area you have plenty of space and not a lot of people. Pool area was nice enough and a couple Weber grills if you want to prepare your own food. Have to travel a bit to get to better restaurants. There just are not a lot of options in area and thus maybe they don't feel need to upgrade. Definitely didn't feel like a resort, more of a remodeled 50's motel, should be called Silver Sands Rentals, promote what it is, not what it isn't.

We were looking for a quiet place to have a romantic weekend and we found it. We saw it first on VRBO but then went directly to the site where it saved us almost 100.00 in fees. Margaret was awesome, friendly and helpful from check in to check out. We stayed in 241A, which is a hotel like room. But that was the perfect size for us and our weekend. The only thing I wish we had was a screened area to sit. But..we knew this room did not come with that. I would just consider a bigger room if we went back just to have that option. Pool was clean, beach just a stroll to the other side of the building. All around great time. I would recommend bringing some type of bug spray if you are planning to watch the sunset, as we got eaten pretty badly the first evening. But that is our fault for not preparing better.

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic weekend and we loved this place! It was so clean and nice. It has a lovely green area around, a mini golf course, and a pool. But most importantly, it has its own beach access! The beautiful sandy beach is a minute walk from your room! They have chaise lounge chairs which is so convenient. There are a lot of good restaurants on the island, and Sarasota is pretty close. It was a perfect get-away place. We thank everyone who works in the Silver Sands resort and keeps it so nice. We will definitely be back :)

My wife and I enjoyed our week at Silver Sands in early February. Being in a beachfront unit rather than one of the many other resorts across Gulf of Mexico Drive from the Gulf was important for us and Silver Sands didn’t disappoint. We had a Gulf of Mexico view and the wide, beautiful beach was only a few steps away along the poolside path. The sunsets were spectacular. Silver Sands is neither new nor luxurious but it is functional and clean. We were in a one-bedroom unit (#234) on the ground floor, looking at the pool and beyond it to the Gulf. This unit, and several others, is a bit quirky in that the front [street-side] door opens into the bedroom. That’s a result of the building’s original incarnation as a motel. When remodeled and enlarged into condos, this unusual floor plan maximized beach views from the living and dining area. We didn’t mind a bit. And the sole issue that we had with this unit, a slow-draining tub/shower, was cheerfully addressed and fixed within half an hour of being reported. The pool is larger than it looks in web site photos and the gas grills nearby were in good condition. Coin-operated community washer dryer arrangement had no wait time. This is an excellent choice for travelers primarily seeking outdoor activities and [relative] economy.

I and a friend stayed here 2 nights. This was our first trip to this resort and it was great. Room was clean and well stocked. They provide beach and pool towels galore! We had a 1 bedroom unit, ground floor. It had a full kitchen, living area and screened in porch. The bed was very comfortable but we did not use the pull out couch. The pool was sparkling clean and they have multiple shower/foot washes when you come off the beach. And it's just a short walk to the beach. The beach is very quiet and uncrowded due to the area being mostly residences. The front desk clerk was extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet get-away.
