Location was great for a family, not too busy but still within perfect walking distance to the beach and restaurants! The pool vibe was set up with good music and both food and drinks available on site. Online check in and using the sonder app for key entry made late night arrival a breeze.

It was an awesome stay, we loved the place, bed was very comfortable and clean, pool was very nice, very clean, had all the amenities we needed (shampoo, body wash, blow dryer, fridge, hangers). Location was great! You can easily walk to anywhere around South Beach (Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road). Even though it’s on Washington street it still felt very private! 10/10 would go back!

A nice place to stay in South Beach. Pretty quiet considering where you are! Right across the street from the police station so it definitely feels safe. They have a great cafe in the Kent building for a cappuccino in the morning. It was an easy stay

My stay at Sonder The Deco (Dec 29, 2023 - Jan 2, 2024, Confirmation Code: 145252946) was an absolute disaster, a far cry from what any decent hotel experience should be. First off, the check-in process was a complete joke. Left to fend for ourselves with an app that required a code we never received, the reception was less than helpful. It took multiple pleas to get any assistance. The room was a horror story. We walked into a dirty room – an immediate red flag considering their exorbitant rates. But the real nightmare was the air quality – or the lack thereof. The windows were fully fogged, the room unbearably damp. Our clothes were drenched in moisture, reeking of mustiness. Desperate for some air, we resorted to opening the door to the corridor! We asked for cleaning – a request so simple yet apparently too complex for their staff. Ivan, whom we spoke to, completely forgot to log our request, leaving us in those dismal conditions. Interacting with Anna at reception was like talking to a wall – only worse, as she continuously interrupted and dismissed our concerns. This place is a farce, charging $315 a night for what can only be described as a stay in a damp, neglected chamber with appalling service. I strongly urge anyone considering this place to rethink. It's not worth your money or peace of mind. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else that actually values its guests.

Sonder The Deco in Miami Beach looked like a nice place on Expedia. So we booked it for three nights. Pretty expensive but heck this is a vacation, right? Well, it turned out to be one of the most pathetic excuses for a hotel I have ever experienced. The whole thing is app-based, which sounds like a forward-thinking idea but is actually super inconvenient. The access to the floors and rooms is very weird. Instead of a magnetic card, the app sends you an access code, which you must type into the doorknob at your floor, and then again at your room. Maybe the app is helpful, because the front desk clerk barely, barely spoke English; she had an incredibly strong Spanish accent and was just about impossible to communicate with. First of all, the room was diminutive, and the hallway was extremely noisy. The bathroom was so tiny that there was no space to put anything on either, except to close the toilet and put your stuff on the lid. There was no furniture in the room to place your suitcase on, either; it had to be left on the floor. Our room was on the third floor. The elevator was out of service, so we had to carry our stuff. No one offered to schlep it up there for us. The writeup had said there was a gym. So we asked at the front desk. "It's in the third building." Okay, we walked down to the third building but didn't see anything except a sign on the elevator in _that_ building that the elevator was out of order there too. Then we spotted a tiny sign that said "GYM". We went there. About the size of a small bedroom. Of course the equipment was filthy, and one of the two Stairmasters was out of order. There was a Universal machine, but no bench and no choice of handles .... pretty much useless. Of course no towels or anything, and no way to cool the tiny room. Just the two of us in there was plenty; would hate to have had more people crammed in there! Okay, let's go check out the rooftop ... it must be nice from the photos, right? Ummm, no, it's just a small rooftop with a few people smoking. No tables, just a few sorry chairs and couches. Probably not cleaned in the last month. No worries, let's go check out the pool that looked so great on Expedia. Well, there must have been more Photoshopping than Kim Kardashian, because the pool is absolutely tiny and is right next to a major road, with all the noise you'd expect. Just awful. This hotel doesn't feature breakfast. It doesn't feature any amenities at all. In fact, there's a $20 charge to have your room cleaned!!! I'm not making this up. I tried to get my money back so we could just go to a normal hotel but the front desk clerk (see above) in her loud ultra-Spanish accent told me that there were no refunds and that I had to take it up with Expedia. Well, no refunds there either. Just a completely crappy experience. Why anyone would pick this place above the many other hotels in Miami Beach is beyond me.

It’s a glorified motel or hostel for grown ups. The photos on the website are the exaggerated version of what it actually is. The pool is sad, sad, sad. The rooms are fine if you are looking for “prison chic.” The front desk person was so rude and seemed annoyed the minute we walked up to the check in desk. The walk to the room was scary - tightest hallway with a strong and cheap scent, loud noises, food and towels strewn everywhere. The only good thing about this experience was that they did give us a full refund once we saw the room and ran out as fast as we could. The price is a deal compared to the nice hotels in south beach but I don’t think it’s right that the actual establishment and amenities are such a far departure from the photos depicted on the website.

This could easily be a 5-star review... but: the elevator is out with no signs of being fixed or even any response from Sonder's "Ask Us Anything" text "service". I'm on the 3rd floor. I'm 60 years old but in pretty good shape (I rented a bike for the week to do cycling while here!)... so: every day, sometime multiple times per day, I get to lug my bike up three flights of stairs. And of course there is luggage (thankfully only one trip each way). What about everyone else? Families? Old people? People not in great shape? Tough sheet. Seemed pretty obvious from the Out of Order sign and the general state of the lobby that a repair person wasn't showing up anytime soon. And sure enough, they never did... I'm here a full week. On top of this, as I mentioned before, I mentioned the problem to Sonder by text multiple times, and never got so much as a reply of any sort. Ask them anything else... they'll reply. So that's why this review is called "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". Obviously the elevator isn't working, no one is coming to fix it, and everyone knows how much this sucks. But let's pretend there's nothing to talk about here. Sonder certainly does. Enjoy your stairs-based workouts!!
