My wife and I stopped by The Crown quite by chance while trapesing through the countryside. The bar was tended by the proprietor and, as the kitchen was not open for another 20 minutes, we ordered a few drinks and sat by the hearth to enjoy the fire and the conversationat the nearby bar that we were openly evesdropping on... I stayed at The Crown in Aldbourne for three nights a few weeks ago whilst visiting family in the village and surrounding area. My room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and quiet with everything you need, including fluffy towels, tea & coffee making facilities(fresh milk provided)and TV. My family and I ate three times in the Bar area, the food... More

There were more dogs( of the large variety) than patrons in the downstairs bar .We felt like intruders rather than paying guests as we had to walk through the bar to the stairway up to our room.We were welcomed by a squadron of flies in our room and the coffee maker spat hot water over the cupboard and floor. The shower... This Crown is on the way up. It sits in the centre of the village overlooking the pond with ample parking. It has a big wide bar with soon to be a small further bar. The pretty blonde bar maid witha rumoured 23" waist is much admired locally. Dogs are welcome if properly controlled. It has a garden terrace and... More

Centrally located in a charming village, a well-proportioned pub with a good beer choice, busy but not overcrowded (Thurs night) that served excellent food from a very acceptable menu (with additional specials). Room was comfortable, well maintained and provided a view over the village duckpond. The atmosphere was of a laidback and unhurried good quality Bed & Breakfast (A1) pub... More

Looking for a pub lunch near Swinedon and came across this place. Very pretty village. Landlord recommended a pleasant local walk for the dog. Proper carvery style Sunday roast. Choice of three meats and help yourself to veg. Very good value at £8.50. No room for pudding. Pleasant, chatty landlord and dog friendly. Try it if you're nearby...

I found this little beauty while looking for somewhere to stop off between Wales and London along the M4 corridor. After a warm welcome myself and my 2 colleagues were shown to our rooms, and on returning to the bar, found the quiz night about to start. We joined in and came emphatically last! We were looked after fabulously by... More

We stopped for an evening meal on the way home to Cornwall. We opted for the Sunday roast which is served from 12 noon until 10 pm. 2 courses for £12.
