I have never written a review before, but just felt I had to for the Old Clayton Inn. We needed a relaxing weekend trip to Lake Burton and the mountains May 3rd - 5th. The Old Clayton Inn exceeded our needs. We have been reluctant to stay in older motels/inns for the obvious reasons. After reading the great reviews on... More

We stayed in a two bedroom, 1 bath suite on the second floor with a nice balcony. Reasonable price, minimal breakfast, lovely sitting room with fireplace at reception. Nice stay for a reasonable price.

We stayed at Old Clayton on a little trip to the mountains. It is old, but clean. Our room was nice. My wife called it "shabby sheik" but that is what she likes. It was very quiet there, not many people staying. The bed was very comfortable and it is close to shops. I am used to "old" growing up... More

We stayed at the Old Clayton Inn in October of 2012. The price was very affordable {even after paying extra for our dog}. The hotel is in "downtown" Clayton and you can walk to shops and restaurants. It is clean and comfortable, we will return. A good location to check out all the cool stuff to do in the Northeast... More

The room was clean but very old. The wall paper was coming off of the wall. The bathroom was so old that the tub was yellow. Everything was clean but aged. The bed was very comfortable and the quilt was very charming. The staff was very cordial and reccomended a nice resturant. I would probably spend the nite again.

This is a quaint little inn in a quaint little town. Other reviews say the hotel is outdated....but that is part of the charm....loved having an actual "key" for our room, not a swipe card. Bed was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Very clean...loved the flannel sheets..nice change from the cheap sheets normally found in a hotel.... More

mel55138 - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! We try very hard to NOT be a "cookie cutter" hotel and we strive to remain true to what we are, as an Historic Inn, while also trying to keep with the modern updates that must be made to compete with the other brands in our market. We love the older, "Welcome... More

My wife and I found the Old Clayton Inn by chance as we were on our way home from motorcycle touring the South Carolina coast. We had ridden from Myrtle beach that day and stopped for dinner in Clayton. Only a couple more hours to home, but I was tired and suggested we see if a room was available. We... More

We were in the area hiking and tried the Inn based on TA reviews. We are so glad we did. We had a Big! room on the 2nd floor with a sitting room and a King size bed decorated with 1920's or 1930's antiques. It was a quirky shape and had the sink/vanity near the bed but it was quite... More

Our visit to the Old Clayton Inn was a pleasure. The staff is professional, efficient, and friendly. Their information about interesting places to visit in Clayton and surrounding area was helpful. The Inn is well-maintained. The lobby is welcoming with plush chairs, sofa, and a lovely fireplace. The upstairs porch has rocking chairs and a wonderful mountain view. A patio... More

We LOVE the Old Clayton Inn for romantic weekend getaways! The hotel and restaurant staff are wonderful and accommodating. The rooms are charming and unique. The restaurant serves upscale food at decent rates. (And the French bartender, Dominique, is superbe!)
