We drove over after spending the morning on the east side of the swamp. The good news was that the pass we purchased on the east side allowed us to park here as well. The last boat ride was at 3pm. We arrived at 3:15. We walked the trail and took some great photos. We enjoyed watching the rangers try... More

The campground here is awesome. Beautifully maintained, beautiful scenery, convenient location within park. Well spaced sites with some pull through options. The cabins are okay if you don't want to camp. They were outdated but were clean and had all the amenities you need. A little expensive but considering you don't have many options, not too bad. The park itself... More

Stayed in Cabin #7 for three nights with three kids and three adults in late March 2013. Two rooms with two full size beds in each room (4 beds total) - full kitchen and screen porch. Great park and very helpful park staff. Took the guided swamp tour, and on the next day rented a motorized john boat to explore... More

We had a wonderful trip with extended family and stayed overnight in one of the cabins at Stephen Foster State Park. The cabin was very comfortable, roomy with a full modern kitchen and a big table to seat 6-8. Living room seating area, one bedroom with 2 double beds, one with twin beds, and a bathroom with lots of towels.... More

Great park, helpful staff. We went down in February, the wate rwas high and the weather mild, so we were able to get "back in there" to see some cool sights. Lots of gators seen, some birds, turtles, etc. Fishing was awful (high, cold water). The boat rentals are a great deal. We rented a 16ft john boat with 10hp... More

Mainly I wanted to give a current update about some of the conditions. The water guage level for the beginning of our stay (USGS 02314495) was at about 3.75. Although the level was a bit low in the canal basin, the boats were running and we had enough water to paddle our kayaks whereever we wanted to go. One day... More

Stayed in the Stephen Foster State park the week of May 21, 2012. I could find very little info concerning the state of the swamp and the activities due to drought therefore would like to fill in with present conditions. Much of the swamp is dry and therefore not much to look at other than miles of pine trees. The... More

We camped for 2 nights at the park and really enjoyed all the wildlife including gators, raccoon, deer, owls, turkey vultures, and much more. However, we did not enjoy the mosquitoes so make sure you take repellent, screens, etc... The swamp is actually very beautiful The boat tour was great and then we rented a canoe to get even closer.... More

We just stayed at the Eco-lodge which is 18 miles away from Stephen Foster State Park, but is part of the park. Our extended family took three of the rooms, a huge two bedroom with high vaulted ceilings and plenty of room for everyone to congregate, a one bedroom and an efficiency. We celebrated Thanksgiving there. While there was very... More
