We found this lovely campground while searching for an alternative to the local KOA while traveling cross country. We couldn't have been more impressed. The workers at check in were very friendly and looked up a local business name, address and phone number for us as we had blown out a tire about an hour before arriving. After fixing our...

Clean campground with nice bathrooms and decent tent camping area. This is a park and walk to your site, primitive camping. My main complaint about this place is the golf cart patrol ever hour. You will have a problem if you want to talk in a normal to quiet voice to your camping mates after 10pm. I camp a few...

This campground was clean. Good for a quick weekend(1-2 night stay) if you are planning to go hiking over at Starved Rock or Matthesion State Park.
As you pull into the grounds, all you see are the big RV pull through sites, but once you get back into the tent area it gets more wooded. The sites in the back loop...

We come here 3 times a year in a travel trailer. The bathrooms are clean, the pool clean & the campground is laid out well. Sites are easy to pull into. It is also right near starved rock state park. There are also many wineries nearby. Wifi isn't great, but why do you need it camping?
We wanted to hike the Starved Rock, Matthiessen Park areas. Its more for RV's that are traveling on I-80 that need a quick place to stop for the night. We chose a site on the west side (#6) that looked away from everyone. When we got there, there were NO trees to protect us from any of the elements or...

Where should I begin?? My family and I decided to go camping for the week-end in our camper. We have camped all over the country and NEVER been treated so badly!! If you would like to visit a place with rude staff, be called names, and be shouted at as if you are entering a prison, then go to Hickory...

This is the fifth year we have held our family reunion at Hickory Hollow. The campground is conveniently located and very clean with a nice (small) pool and playground/game room for the kids. The condos are nice, although somewhat expensive. The first two reunions went smoothly, with no complaints about the staff. Some of our family had minor complaints during...

Despite all the bad reviews we did stay at Hickory Hollow back in July of 2010 and came back again this year. Very, very clean campground. Yes the owners do drive around to make sure you don't destroy their property but that's the reason why it's so clean and neat. The grass is neatly cut, the bathrooms are clean. Same...

I stayed two nights in mid July. This is probably an okay site for motor homes, but not for tenters. The whining tires and rumbling trucks on I-80, located about a quarter mile away, drone on throughout the night. A lot of loud jake-braking adds to the mayhem as semis exit the freeway to visit the nearby Love's truckstop. The...
