This a lovely peaceful part of The Gambia on the north bank of the river Gambia The crossing of the river from the south bank is made by speed boat which can be a little bumby and you might get a little wet! We were given a very warm welcome on arrival at Sitanunku Lodge and given the choice of... More

My partner and I stayed three nights at Sitanunku Lodge as the middle part of a three centre stay in The Gambia. The first was at Hibiscus House in Brufut (lovely) and the last was the supposed number one eco-lodge in The Gambia, Mandina River Lodge (dreadful - see separate review). Stianunku is in its first season of operation but... More

My husband and I visited this lodge after the hussle and bussle of Kotu beach area. We were picked up by Marcel, the owner and a most charming host, and transferred by speed boat to the lodge which is on the north side of the river Gambia. When we arrived we felt we had died and gone to heaven. We... More

Sitanunku Lodge is a complete haven, an almost textbook honeymoon paradise, so wonderfully isolated and tranquil. We were so well looked after and yet so undisturbed. To give an example: on the last evening of our stay, a small, private bonfire was lit especially for us to sit and watch the stars whilst sipping champagne and talking into the night.... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights in this wonderful lodge. Being on the north bank seemed far from everywhere and being on a promontory felt like being on an island, so much so that I kept referring to the south bank as the mainland. The lodge is comfortable, the food delicious and the people completely charming. The baobab trees... More

We (my husband, me and our 6 year old daughter) stayed for 3 nights from 3 January 2012. We have travelled the world and stayed in all sorts of 5 star resorts (including Aman resorts, The Chedi in Muscat, the Imperial in New Delhi etc) and I've never felt compelled to write a report before now, but this lodge is... We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights last week and absolutely loved it. It was just what we needed. Peace, tranquility, beautiful surroundings, wonderful hosts, amazing food and the list goes on. The staff treated us like royalty, and were so so sweet. And what beautiful people. The owner was also a very charming man, and has done a very... More

We (6 of us) visited when the lodge had just opened, and what a treat it was, the pool had not been finished but we knew that and it was no problem but it has been completed now. We looked round several different lodges (bungalows?) there and they were all absolutely lovely. Whilst us women relaxed with a bottle (or... More

We stayed at Sitanunku for four nights in March and were totally overwhelmed by it. Sited on the north bank on the River Gambia it provides the visitor with a taste of the real Gambia and a chance to enjoy its wildlife, local villages and above it's people. Our lodge had a river view and was extremely comfortable. The food... More
