Our stay at this Sheraton was problematic from beginning to end. We thought that this was supposed to be a high end hotel. The night we checked in, the entire first floor was completely packed with youngsters at some sort of event. The noise they made was so deafening that it was nearly impossible to communicate with the man checking us in. We could not use the restaurant, bar or any other amenities for our entire 3 night stay as they were packed with kiddies. We arrived late, and when we tried to use the bathroom sink, it would barely drain. Pretty unpleasant. We called to get it fixed, but while waiting for this, we decided to ask the hotel to fix it in the morning while we were out. They said it would be done but when we returned after noon, it had not been fixed as promised. I brushed my teeth in the shower. Later that night we wanted a glass of wine and a beer. This involved scanning a QR code that led to a very limited selection. My wife ordered a cabernet. They instead delivered a white wine in - wait for it - a CAN. She called the desk to get this replaced but was told to go down to the first floor bar, navigate through a gauntlet of kiddies, and finally get a small glass of cabi from an overworked bartender. The sink drain finally got unplugged but the guy who did it had to leave to get special equipment. There was particulate matter in the sink after this. On our last night we returned to the room around 9 to find that housekeeping had not cleaned our room. And on the morning we to fly home, our toilet was clogged. We have had much better experiences at hotels that were half as expensive.

Lovely hotel. We stay here about every quarter when visiting family. Always very clean, excellent service (Gina in the bar is a gem!) and spacious workout room, as well as wonderful indoor pool and jacuzzi. Highly recommend. (Concierge level provides a beautiful view of Overland Park)

Stayed at the SOPH for one night for a business trip. I'm always a little wary of sheratons because they always seem to be a little dated and impersonal. The SOPH was not. The lobby restaurant was undergoing renovations, and the rooms were just fine. What really made this Sheraton stand out was the service. Check in was a breeze and after a long day, a kind word and a nice smile can go a long way. I really appreciated the desk staff letting me know that the bar was closing soon. In addition, the breakfast on 19th floor was great, with a lot of awesome selections and the server there was genuinely nice, again, a great way to start the day. The only negatives were that the shower handle was loose so hot water was difficult to control (but not impossible) and the walls were thin in the bathroom so I could hear my neighbors electric toothbrush...and I assume they could hear mine. Would stay here again for the service alone.

Beautiful lobby, great looking restaurant, and connected to the convention center, which is why we stayed here. Very friendly and helpful staff. So why the the two star? Well, I expected more from a Sheraton. I expected a regular breakfast from a menu, as it showed in the room, I expected a microwave in the room. The room was very nice, roomy (we somehow got an upgrade), clean, nice tv, etc. However, no microwave, and we were staying for 4 days, so that would have been nice considering the breakfast was mediocre at best. Yeah...the breakfast. So there's a QR code in the room so you can see the menu, and it looked delicious. So we go downstairs at 7am and unfortunately there's a buffet. You can guess what was at the buffet because if you have ever stayed at any 2 star hotel with a free breakfst thats what was there. Scrambled (powdered) eggs, tiny overcooked sausage and burnt to a crisp bacon. Potatoes, regular asst of breads, oatmeal, sausage and really overcooked biscuits, fruit..or so they said and thats about it. Wouldnt be bad if it was included in the room charge...nah...it was $19/person..absolutely a total ripoff. The waitress told us that they normally dont do the regular breakfast if there are a lot of people in the hotel. I guess because there's only one person in the kitchen. She suggested the starbucks thats in the hotel..wish she would have told us earlier. I looked at the dinner menu, and honestly, IF they really did serve dinner it is WAY overpriced. Its Grub Hub for us, but without a microwave to reheat the food., (we did call about a microwave and were told there is one in the lobby but not available in the rooms). All in all this looks like a great hotel, but once you peel back the curtain, its a mediocre hotel whose only claim to existence is that it is attached to a convention center. I learned my lesson and will stay elsewhere next time. Oh...and by the way...no soap in the bathroom. I prefer soap to that liquid stuff.

physicsreader, Thank you for the kind words for our lobby and especially our staff. I am of course sorry to see your comments about your overall experience and based on your feedback I would recommend looking into a Marriott extended stay property for future trips as many feature not only microwaves but very functional kitchenette’s. As for our hotel the items shown on the QR code you referenced were available as it is what we use for our in-room dining, and those delicious eggs are 100% Cage Free fresh eggs. I would highly recommend them should you visit us again! Once again, thank you for your feedback and should you wish to discuss your visit in greater detail please feel free to reach out to me directly. Safe Travels,

Very disappointing stay. First, the junior suites do NOT have power outlets at desk level in the living room area. I had to unplug the coffee maker from behind the desk--which you cannot move--in order to free up a power outlet. Trying to plug in to that outlet, which was only a few inches from the desk, was a pain to say the least. No microwave available in the room, nor in the club lounge. Of course, the club lounge is closed most of Friday and Sunday, and all day Saturday. There is plenty of room for a microwave, and plenty of other top-end Marriott properties have them in the suites, and some have them in regular guest rooms as well. On checkout day--a Sunday at 6:15 a.m.--I discovered there were no luggage carts available. The person at the front desk told me there was nothing they could do about guests keeping carts in their rooms overnight. WHAT? I put the blame mostly on the inconsiderate guests who keep the carts in their room overnight when there is absolutely no need to do so. NONE. That is the height of laziness and just being a plain jerk. However, I also have to put some blame on the staff for their refusal to find the guests who have taken these carts and stashed them. I was not pleased as I drove away from Overland Park. Things have to improve greatly if I am to stay here again. I feel like I got extremely bad value for the money spent.

If comfort and food matter, not the place to stay. Was here while I was sick unfortunately so the creature comforts mattered. Every pillow - even when requesting a foam or hypo allergenic pillow - was thin and easily folded in half. Tell tale sign of old pillows. 6 tries, 6 pillows, all terrible. Dinner nearly inedible. Never knew u could make bad chicken fingers. Gumbo probably too high an expectation. A/C wasn’t working for much of the day. Lovely staff tho.

This hotel was perfect for my family vacation. It is in a great location, lots of fun things to do and see. My room was cleaned and when I needed something they brought it up quickly. My favorite part was the 2 front desk employees, Amy and Drew. They were so friendly, very quick to serve me and went above and beyond. I will definitely stay here again. The only negative is they need more microwaves in the hotel.

Very convenient to convention center. Rooms were spacious, fairly comfortable, and had a fridge, but no microwave. (Apparently, one could use a microwave located somewhere in the lobby.) No free breakfast. Had accessible room, which came with a step-in shower, which was nice, though there was no shelf to put one's personal shower items. Public shampoo and soap dispensers, rather than individually packaged items. Hand soap was a "warm oak," which wasn't the most pleasant smell. (Or, it could have been the sink drain that smelled -- it was very slow to drain, and whenever you washed your hands, bubbles would come oozing back out the overflow hole.) Lobby was a good place to meet up with people, but it was very loud. Elevator to parking area was unpleasantly hot. Overall, it was an okay stay. I'd probably stay here again, but there is room for improvement (for the price charged).

My husband and I are not from the area. We stayed here in December 2022 just prior to the Christmas holiday. It was during extreme weather conditions, my car battery decided to die, and my husband needed to go to the hospital ASAP. I called an ambulance from the front desk. Tony, the Director of Engineering tried to jump my car in the bitter cold but was not successful. I took an Uber to the hospital. I cannot say enough good things about everyone I came in contact with during my stay at this Sheraton in OP. I recommend them HIGHLY!
