This was the second time we've stayed at the Briar Lea Inn. We started coming to the fabulous restaurant, the Jolly Drayman, years ago when we skied at Sunday River. My husband is from Cambridge, England, and loved it. This weekend just my daughter and I came. It's been wonderful. Very cozy room, quiet (and we're on the 2nd floor,not... More

I spent a beautiful Fall weekend at the Inn. The room was very comfortable and cozy. The location was great for getting out and seeing the Fall Colors as well as several of the local attractions. After a full day of sight seeing the Pub and Restaurant is a great place for a meal and a drink. The shepherd's pie... More

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Briar Lee Inn during October 2011. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the perfect setting for a visit to New England during the fall. The owners were delightful and made an effort to make sure we felt right at home. The food in the restaurant was delicious and overall we... More

My husband and I spent two nights at this inn to start our New England "leaf-peeping" trip earlier this month. Even though the antique furnishings are not quite as comfortable as some of our other stays, this was still one of our favorite places to stay in New England, and one of the most cozy and tasty restaurants. We enjoy... More

My husband and I spent one night here while passing through Maine on a leaf-peeping trip to New England. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, although very dark. The lighting, in keeping with the overall atmosphere of the inn, was quite dim which worked well for ambiance, but made reading tour books and maps a bit difficult. We stayed... More

My husband and I spent a weekend in Bethel for a wedding in May. The wedding was at the Bethel Inn, where everyone stayed. But due to animal allergies my husband and I couldn't stay there and am I glad that we didn't! I chose the Inn because I love English pubs and when I saw that there was one... More

Pros: Cindy and Fred were very nice and made us feel welcome; the room (Chulmleigh) was beautiful and comfortable; the food in the restaurant was fabulous! Cons: the only "con" we had was be aware if you stay in the room(s) facing the street....during our stay there was alot of traffic and it was very noisy, especially early, early in... More

My husband and I stayed at the Briar Lee Inn for a night recently. We stayed in the Dartmoor room, which was at the top of the house and was very comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant, which served superb food. The barman, Brian, was a great guy, very friendly and chatty. Our hosts Cindy and Fred have now... More

My husband, 22 yr old daughter and I spent a delightful extended weekend here from Feb 26-Mar1. We were visiting our son who works at Sunday River just 10 short mins. away. It snowed while we were there and out of our spacious bedroom window the scene was like a Christmas card. Fred and Cindy, the proprietors were more than... More

Stayed there over Presidents' weekend with my sister's family and it was just right. Just ten minutes from Sunday River and near the little main street in Bethel. Breakfast was very nice and the pub worked well for us after a day of skiing. Highly Recommend! More
