The Calais Motor is best classifed as "ok." Not terrible, but nothing special. On the plus side, it's not far from highways (but not so close that you hear them) if you're in the area. The rooms are a bit dated, and probably allowed smoking in the not too distant past, so had a somewhat musty smell. The rooms aren't... more

Booked a room for 4 nights for the International Festval/ Homecoming week-end......bought my swimming suit to use their Olympic size swimming pool.......forget about it......the pool has been closed for a couple of years, but is still touted on their website! They discontinued their contintental breakfast and get this, they won't even make your bed if you are staying more than... more

The Calais Motor Inn is clean and comfortable, with in-room microwave and refrigerator. However, their website is badly misleading. That pool has been closed for two years and the restaurant is also closed. It also seemed to me that sound carried from room to room, so if you need quiet, this may not be the place. We arrived with a... more

They closed down the pool in 2006, but they continue to advertise it on their website. I chose this since my young daughter loves to swim. No pool. Very sad little girl on my hands. The room cost over $90, as well. What??! Furthermore, the rooms are dingy, mildewed, and contain furnishings made in 1973. Mattresses were thin, creaky, and... more

What a DUMP. The room was dingy, had mildew smell, the light made a noise that sounded like it was going to blow up, the carpet was OLD, the bathroom was REAL NASTY, the bed made lots of noise by just sitting on it. The hallway was smokey and the internet connection was SLOW, SLOW. I left the place in... more

Way overpriced for a crappy, motel 6 room. Had to stay 2 nights in the area and spent the first one here. For half the price I stayed the 2nd night at the Bass motel, now called "Boidi" or something weird like that. That room and bathroom was much bigger than the Calais Motor Inn. Don't do it, that is... more

We arrived on a Friday nite to discover the room was $73. They should have paid us the money to stay there. We stayed in one of the drive up units. The headboard nearly fell off the wall when my husband touched it. When I got into bed, I nearly fell out as my side of the bed had a... more

My wife and I stayed there for her class reunion. First off no one tells you that the pool is closed and has been for over a year. We only found out when the lady across the hall from us was coming back from the closed pool with her 3 year old who was very disappointed that the pool was... more

second time staying here on route from nova scotia to bangor..rather stay in barracks behind building as cleaner as main lodge carpeting definetely needs to be replaced..stayed in fall at $59 including breakfast while this time was $100 which is not worth it for this kind of lodging..would stay again if had to but they should definetly consider replacing some... more

We stayed at the Calais Motor Inn for our second trip to Calais. Although we didn't expect the trip to be relaxing, since we were warned during reservation that a basketball team will be staying at the inn the same weekend, we never experienced any issues. The room was clean and quiet, the service was exceptional and the value was... more
