I had to change my arrival date by 2 days. As a result, I got an 'upgraded' room. So instead of $250 for 2 nights I had to pay $300. I needed handicap access and walk in shower. The parking lot is gravel. Hard to walk on when you have trouble walking to begin with. The entrance to the room was up 4 stairs with wide handrails that were barely grippable. The entrance was through a storm door to a 'sun porch' (with no furniture). The door would only open about 24" because it was blocked by a stairway leading to the 2nd floor. This is definitely not a 'handicap accessible' room. Once inside the room there was a king bed, a old style glider (mid century with horrible flower pattern on it, not a vintage one that would fit a 100 year old house) with foot stool, a table with coffee pot, 1 chair, 1 old night stand, a wall mounted TV and a fridge. No headboard, no closets, no luggage stands, no shelves, nothing, not even 2 chairs to sit at the table with. The bathroom is huge, but the vanity is very small and there is no place to put anything, and there are no grab bars. I had to use the ironing board as a table in the bathroom. They had hangers on the towel rack for your clothes. Someone decided that it would look good to sand portions of the hardwood floors and then throw a coat of poly on it. The result is horrible, they look awful. They should have sanded them all the way, stained them to make the color even and then put the poly on. It would have looked like a nice old house rather than a ratty cabin. The TV was awful, you couldn't get any major networks, nor could you find the cable channels we normally watch. Basic Spectrum with about 12 channels. We wound up watching reruns of shows we never watch. This room did not match any of the pictures they show on the website. It was awful. The worst part was the bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on. It was like sleeping on the floor. It was awful. I was told that the owners had purchased the building this room was in last year and were renovating it. I don't understand why they didn't put decent furniture in it. I would not stay there again. The experience was terrible. To pay over $150 a night and not have a decent bed or even basic amenities in the room or breakfast, is highway robbery. I have found as I travel that mediocre is the flavor of the day and this one sure was. On my way home I stayed in a place that had a living room, bedroom, 2 TVs with full coverage, handicap bathroom with many grab bars, comfortable bed, pool, hot tub, free breakfast, etc for the same price. …
