I recently hiked Mount Katahdin with six family members and got off the mountain after 8 pm with nowhere to stay. When we stumbled up to the Big Moose at around 9 at night, tired, hungry, and dirty, they not only found rooms for us, they also kept the restaurant open so that we could have dinner, and handled everything... We stayed here on a recent weekend when a wedding was also hosted, our first and only time here. A wedding with a loud DJ that went until 11PM and was right downstairs under our rooms. So much for a getting a nice relaxing weekend away in the north Maine woods. The inn should have closed off all the rooms... More

Was just wanting a bed for my first trip to Baxter to hike. Was expecting a big price and very basic accommodations - what a surprise. Not only is it super close to the State Park, had last minute openings, but the Inn was warm, intimate, casual, ambiance just right. Flowers, screen porch, Adirondack style, fireplace, nocks for lounging, comfy beds/bedding, but... More

All in all we had a good stay at the campsite. It had all the facilities. Toilets were clean. Campsites were neat and pretty. It's conviniently located. Not too far away from the town and the Baxter state park. A few lakes near by with a lot of activities. I haven't seen or know the state of other campsites in... More

My husband and I and our teen daughter and niece stayed here in 2010 in the Antique Cabin right next to the Pub. I am surprised by the negative reviews. This is not a place to stay for a bachelor party; it is a place for people who want to get away from daily life of work and traffic and... More

Short and sweet: 2 nights, 1 room in Inn, shared bath was no big deal. Extremely quiet even though room was above the restaurant which had live music. Perfect for early morning risers who want to open the park up at 5. Good food. Nice people. I'll be back.

Stayed in the Boat House- a very small cabin. The owner and staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help us. Location was excellent and next to the trading post which was convenient. The waterfront area was pretty small and the shower were hot but not the nicest- but hey we were camping! Overall had... I stayed here once before, many years ago and booked a campsite again due to its proximity to Baxter State Park and our plans to hike up Mt Katahdin. I was a bit nervous after reading the reviews about bad experiences with the owner, but I am pleased to say that we had no such run in and actually had... More

We only had a short stay at the Inn as we arrived at 8 in the evening and left to hike Mt. Katadhin at 6 the next morning but the room was great, the staff amazing and breakfast available at 5:30 am was more than we expected. Definitely a place we will return to.

This inn has an interesting challenge. it tries, and succeeds, in being a quaint, comfortable bed and breakfast-style place to couples and young families headed to and from nearby Baxter State Park. But it is also a stopping off point for all the young people who basically want to get drunk and go whitewater rafting, with rafting companies just a... More
