We have stayed here the last 3 years. When first went up to Acadia we stayed at a couple different campgrounds the first 2 years. While driving around our 2nd year we went by Mt. Desert campground and stopped in, we are so glad we did! This is our favorite campground! It is right on Sommes sound. I haven't found... More

Ive been returning to mount desert campground for 5 years now and love it. Nestled in the pines right on a fjord (ocean inlet) it is by far the most beautiful campground on the island. The staff is so helpful and relaxed. Campground is so clean and upkept. So many wonderful sites, good for family or couples , or just... More

This was my second time back, visiting with my mom and dad. We, once again, camped out in our trailer and although our site could not compare to the breath taking tenters sites, the beautiful dock and surrounding areas were wonderful. The campsite has nice, clean bathrooms with 0.50$ per 5 minutes shower. Although we did not take advantage of... More

Thank you for your kind and informative review of our campground! In the interest of preventing new customers from encountering any unwanted surprises, we'd like to clarify that we cater primarily to tents, pop-ups and some small trailers (20' - 22' and under). If you have a bigger rig, we're not the place for you. With respect to showers, a... More

We decided to book a site here for our trip to Acadia National Park. The staff was very helpful when booking to make sure we had a great site. The campground was clean and well maintained. The platforms they have for your tent is a great idea! It was great that they were Dog Friendly for the first part of... More

Everything was so clean. Campground was nice and quiet. But I would try to stay in a "c" section. Probably has less noise from the main road but still not a big deal. It didn't bother us too badly. Great place to stay!

I first stayed at this campground in the early 80's, on a friend's recommendation. Have camped there on and off ever since then. About 10 years ago our family spent a week on one of the campground's beautiful waterfront sites and since then we've been back for the same week each year. This beautiful piece of land has been a... I only require clean bathrooms and quiet when I camp. But you get so much more at MDC. This is a beautiful spot on Somes Sound, with water access to launch boats, play on the swim docks or just enjoy the waterfront. A great island location thats 8 miles from Bar Harbor; so it's close enough to get there, but... More

this campground was the perfect place to spend with our family. The facility is clean and well run. The camp sights are wooded and gorgeous. The kids had a blast exploring the sound, and it was a perfect blend of wooded camping with fun things to do nearby. LOVED it and hope to return. The family that operated the campground... More

Hands down, the nicest campground I have ever stayed at. Bathrooms were very clean. All sites are nicely wooded. Many with platforms and water views. Excellent location for kayaking and all the activites Bar Harbor has to offer. Kids spent hours and hours crabbing. Nice family campground. They do enforce quiet time at 10 PM. A great stay!

We just returned from our 6th visit to Mount Desert Campground. Obviously, we love the place. It's THE cleanest, friendliest, and best-run campground we've ever been to. Gorgeous location, quiet, family-friendly... we've never had anything less than a stellar experience. Love the kayaking and nightly ice-cream options. The owners are great and take a lot of pride in running a... More
