The Asticou Inn overlooks Northeast Harbor. The Front Desk staff, Concierge and housekeeping staff were friendly. Our accommodations had beautiful views of the harbor and a porch. This is a large, old style summer Maine hotel that rambles across its well-gardened grounds with a main building and several outer buildings. There is internet service but you feel removed from the... More

I performed here for a wedding ceremony & reception. This is a very quaint Inn located in Northeast Harbor, Maine. The view is remarkable, the garden area is very nice, the food is excellent, and the service was good. I also had the pleasure of working with one of Maine's finest professional photographers. The outdoor deck was an excellent place... More

My wife and I returned recently to the Asticou for our anniiversery. We went there on our honeymoon 20 years ago. It was very nice then but things, as they say, have changed. The room was shabby and almost totally lacking in privacy. The food was poor and absurdly priced. I paid $12.95 for some rubber eggs and cold toast.... More

This hotel was opened in 1883 and was clearly rather grand at the time. Sadly, not much has changed since. Pride of place must be given to the elevator, surely the oldest still working, manually operated, room for three people. The rooms are spartan, and the bathrooms elderly. No TV or coffee makers. Lovely location, views over the well kept... More

We just finished a 10-day trip through New England ... so very lovely! Except one portion -- our stay at the Asticou. I thought I read the reviews before deciding to stay here, but perhaps I paid too much attention to the positive ones. BIG mistake! (Oh, and even Fodor's recommended the hotel ... so much for their credibility too.)... More

The location and ambience of this hotel make it special. We have spent the past 6 summers in Northeast Harbor, Maine and usually stay a few extra days when our rental house ends. The hotel is perfectly situated to access Acadia national park from the brown mountain entrance. Also, the village of northeast harbor is charming and not teeming with... More

Pros- location. I liked that we were not in Bar Harbor, but just a 5-7 minute drive from it. Also, the Asticou Gardens are across the street and it is absolutely beautiful. We had a King suite which was large enough to accommodate our family of 5. I actually liked that we had no tv in our room! Nice view... More

Few amenities. No TVs in rooms. Poor cell service in area. Maid service just OK. Staff very accommodating. Small elevator that staff operates. Peabody restaurant is overpriced and poor and slow service. Hotel has a historical value but really overpriced for what you get and where located. Not a place I will book again.

The Asticou is a phenomenal place to stay. The customer service is amazing- they really go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. The scenery is great- it's on a hill that overlooks the bay and there's a fantastic deck. Also, their restaurant Peabody has some of the best food- pricey but well worth it.... More

We stayed at the Asticou in 2000, and it was superb. We were excited to visit again and have another delightful experience. We were, unfortunately very disappointed. I'll start with the positives, the hotel has beautiful grounds and great old bones. And now for the negatives: 1. Upon arrival, no one asked if they could carry our bags to our... More
