Less than a mile from Acadia National, Park Pier One combines the finest of Maine waterfront lodging with the beauty of a real working harbor location. Manicured grounds and private sundecks on a sheltered cove offer a unique Maine coastal setting. Come and enjoy the breathtaking views of Southwest Harbor from your beautifully appointed suite complete with kitchens or from our private 150-foot pier.
Or is that Mount Desert Island. Or Acadia National Park? Maine does not spill its secrets easily, so let me just say that the Deck House at Pier One is everything a couple could want on a coastal Maine getaway. That is, if you like a face-on view of a working harbor, the tide coming in and out under your deck, endless sunsets over the water, and access to everything wonderful about Maine. The corner room holds a queen-sized bed with windswept views in every direction and a small table and chair to read. There is a separate, perfectly lovely bathroom and a tiny kitchenette just large enough to provision for breakfasts and cocktail hour, or whip up a bowl of pasta on the one night you don't walk 30 yards to Beal's Lobster Pier, or into the delightful town of Southwest Harbor, that happens to sport a terrific and trendy outdoor spot called Cafe 2. What is there to do in this tiny little harbor town? Well, within 30 minutes proximity we hiked Cadillac Mountain, cycled the Carriage Trail through Acadia NP, took an old mail ferry out to Cranberry Island and, oh, relaxed every night to the rocking lobster boats from our waterfront deck. My only regret about publishing this review? I worry that the delightful inn owner will book every room for the next 12 summers and we'll never find a vacancy again.…

We go to Maine every summer. We decided to go in October instead. Because so much of the area was already closed down, we stayed here for the first time ever. We will never, ever stay anywhere else again. This place is simply wonderful. It's cozy, homey, perfect for two people. A quaint kitchen and setting area. The views are incredible. It was peaceful and quiet and a short walk to so much. We are in love with everything about this place!

My husband and I stayed in the guest house for several days after our wedding. The deck house was cozy, right on the water, beautiful view. Exactly what we were looking for. You are able to walk to several yummy restaurants right in the area, short drive to acadia and bar harbor.

Would highly recommend the Pier One Deck House for anyone looking for an intimate, cozy vacation rental close enough to the action, but with privacy features. The unit was comfortable, well equipped and nicely decorated. We especially enjoyed the deck in the morning and evening, with room to sit in either sun or shade while overlooking the working dock area and all its activity. The grounds are lovely, with well marked entrances to each Pier One unit. Appreciated the easy off-street parking. Our host, Don, was very pleasant and offered tips on hiking, dining, shopping and local attractions, including Acadia National Park. Reservations, check-in and check-out were a breeze. A great place to stay if you're looking for something other than a typical hotel room and can manage in a smaller space.…

The Deck House was a private studio unit that overlooks the water. The pictures provided were accurate; it is very clean, quiet and as advertised small. The mattress was OK. There isn't a lot of room for suitcases, so we unpacked (there is a dresser) and put our suitcases in the car. The bathroom although small had a lot of room for toiletries and the towels were very nice. The unit is very safe, you have a code that opens the gate to get in by foot or by car. It is walking distance to Beal's Lobster Pier and a short drive to town (the town has a selection of restaurants). We had breakfast at Sips and Eat-A-Pita & Cafe 2 (don't let the name fool you, they have great breakfasts. If you leave early morning, speak to Don and he will accommodate you. Don is very nice and will help you with any questions that you have. When our remote wasn't working, he ran over with new batteries. Bring a flashlight; they have lights, but it is a little dark getting back to your unit.…

My husband and I were looking for a romantic getaway and our stay at the Quata Deck at Pier One was perfect. The unit was cozy and had everything we needed. You also can't beat the location and the view! Don was very helpful when we arrived and if we return we plan on staying at Pier One again!

The unit was indeed a great retreat for two nuns. Quiet, serene and surrounded with the nature that only God could create. It is off the commercial tract and has a great proximity to all that there is at Acadia National Park.

Perfect location at the tip of Southwest Harbor. Within walking distance of the main part of town, had a bus stop right outside the main entrance, steps from Beal's and provided some of the most gorgeous natural Maine-like views. My wife and I spent a week at the Fok Sul (found via Airbnb) and enjoyed every minute. Easy access to all areas of the island, great food close by and nice and cool weather for August (as opposed to our normal Philadelphia heat and humidity!) Fair warning for those guests who are taller, the shower stall is a little cramped and I definitely hit my head entering and exiting at least once, the exit to the back deck has a low ceiling so also please be careful. Our trip was wonderful and we look forward to another opportunity to explore Maine and Acadia National Park in the future!…

We enjoyed our stay at the Bowsprit, Don is a wondeful host. I wish the kitchen had been a tad bit bigger, but I'm being picky. It was clean, smelled great, and very cute. Plenty of hot water, nice soft towels, and extra comfrter & pillows if needed. We loved staying right on th water, and watcing the harbour activities.

First of all Pier One Vacation Rentals has various appartments / condos hence one has to read reviews carfully to understand what people are rating. We initially booked the Fok Sul condo but as the heating system didn't work we were offered an alternative, the PILOT appartment for approximately $270 per night (no breakfast). Verdict: we would probably not recommend to book this appartment as the main street through town is directly next to the property. While sleeping you get the impression to be right on the highway...additionally there were no proper linen or sheet on the bed that would help with colder nights late October. + Very helpful and friendly owner/manager + Huge space (2 bedrooms with shower/toilet, 1 big livingroom including kitchen) - Missing blankets / sheets on beds - Noise from the main street right next to the property - Price tag (we had much nicer appartments in Acadia at a lower price later on) - Cleanliness (hair on our beds/pillows, etc.)…
