We stayed here for 2 nights, half board at the end of June 2012 . As everyone says, the location is pure picture postcard. We had chambre 2 which had views of the river and the mill, and was just charming. The restaurant was good and we enjoyed the beautiful views while dining. The village itself is really nice, with... My husband and I had a marvelous dinner at Les Griffons with friends during a trip to France this summer. It is THE most romantic restaurant setting I've ever seen. We were seated in the Salon a la Cheminee, a beautiful wood-panelled room, next to the fireplace, and opposite a window whose shutters opened to the expanse of the river,... More

This truly is the most enchanting hotel. The location is impossibly lovely. We had room 4 which had an old stone fireplace. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The room is dual aspect both views overlooking a mill race and the river. The building is an old mill with blue shutters situated on the edge of an ancient bridge. If the location were... More

If I spent a month thinking about how to improve this place, I fear I would still draw a blank. Others have commented on the location, but it is simply idyllic, picturesque, next to a castle and a river, along which flows strands of green and yellow flowers. The welcome is very warm and friendly not just when you arrive... More

We both thought we had died and gone to heaven when we arrived at this beautiful small hotel in the most exquiisite location we have ever seen. The ancient building is set on the delightful River Dronne which flows under a wonderful arched bridge surrounded by willows which slope down to the water. We were greeted by the host who... More

It is difficult to improve upon the reviews submitted for this hotel. Its situation is idyllic, in a medieval village, lying alongside the river and at the foot of a fascinating castle. My wife and I spent three days here in June and would happily have spent much longer. Frédérique and Jacques are dream hosts whose kitchen produces an outstanding... More

My husband and I have travelled in the South of France for years but this is, absolutely, one of the most devine hotels we have had the pleasure to stay in. Small, quietly elegant, supurb food, and situated in one of the Dordogne's sweetest of villages. The owners are charming and gracious. What more could one wish for? Another few... More

This charming hotel is set, quite simply, in the most beautiful situation. A gentle river flows under an ancient bridge surrounded by weeping willows and shrubs. Les Griffons hotel forms one end of this picture postcard scenic crossing of the river dronne. Hotel owners went out of their way to assist guests. Food and wine was to a very high... More

My husband and I stayed at Les Griffons for two nights as part of a driving holiday around southern France, but wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is set in the most idyllic location, at the end of a stone bridge, right on the edge of a low and quiet river. There are so many beautiful rooms that... More

The setting of this hotel - which is called Hostellerie les Griffons now and I think has been for a while; not sure where the '90' comes from - is quite incredible. The artist in his little bridge studio next door calls Bourdeilles 'village ravissante' and that is certainly true. The hotel itself is also a wonderful old building, a... More
