We stayed at this resort in late June, for a weekend trip with our boat. We were ecstatic to see that this resort allowed pets, and looked forward to a relaxing weekend with our boat. We knew that this resort wasn't luxury, and we didn't expect that when we checked in. We were looking for clean and simple. The resort is tricky to find especially after dark-but the owners did tell us that when we made the reservation. Parking is a little tricky, it's steep, and the resort is on a hill. You better know what you are doing backing your boat in. The road that leads to the resort is terrible, pulling a boat down this road was a white knuckle experience. We were constantly worried about popping a tire in the numerous pot holes. It's basically a one lane, if you meet another car, you have to pull off almost into the ditch. The cabin itself was small, and simple, which we knew. The night we checked in, we killed several bugs (roach like) that were running around on the tile floor. The bed was very uncomfortable, we never slept a good night there at all. There is a TV in the cabin, but it's on top of the fridge, which is a little odd. The bathroom is simple and clean. We never used the pool, it seemed small but well maintained. There are two primary reasons that I gave this resort a one star review. Number One: someone entered our cabin while we weren't there. They make you sign a piece of paper that said you agreed to the terms for staying in the cabin (including a 100 dollar cleaning fee), as well as turning off the window unit when we weren't in the unit. We did this when we went on the boat and were gone for several hours, even though it was 90 plus that day, which made the cabin stifling when we got back. We left again later in the afternoon to get some food (gone maybe an hour), and came back to the window in the bathroom being open, and the air turned off. We knew we hadn't done either of these things. It made us extremely uncomfortable, and I'm pretty sure we didn't agree to someone coming into our cabin while we were gone. I understand that they are trying to keep cost down, but when you pay for a unit that is supposed to be air conditioned, I don't except that someone is going to decide to come into our cabin and turn it off when they want to. Since we weren't gone that long, someone had to have been watching to see when we left, which just added another layer of discomfort. I was extremely uncomfortable and wanted to leave, but we had already paid for the night, and just decided to leave in the morning first thing. The second reason: When we checked out of the cabin, we completed each of the items on the check list: swept the floor, picked up our dishes and washed them, and took out the trash. Because we had dogs, I went through again with the broom and dust pan that they provided, and swept again. The cabin was clean when we left. Imagine my surprise when I checked my credit card later in the week to see a 100 cleaning fee from the resort. I contacted them immediately, and spoke with a woman who explained to me in a very rude voice, that she had to sweep the cabin after we left, and got "several things of dog hair". I explained to her that we had swept the cabin, and I was confused about why I was charged. She told me that she had pictures of the hair that she had to clean up, and would happily send them to me. I provided my phone number to her, but have never received any of the pictures. I called the resort multiple times after that, leaving my information and requesting that they either call me or send me the pictures, but have not received a call back or pictures. So I was charged 100 because the resort is stating they had to sweep the floor of the cabin when we left. My advice to anyone thinking about staying here is buyer beware. IF you do decide to stay, take pictures when you check out. Know that the road to the resort is just bad, and that the resort owners are friendly when you are there, but the woman who I spoke to was absolutely nasty to me on the phone. I wouldn't stay here again, and I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone that I know to. It's definitely not somewhere that I would recommend to anybody staying with pets, especially since they seem to use that to charge you more on your credit card. I already had paid pet fees for each of the dogs, which I expected, but I guess that doesn't cover anything besides allowing them to be on the premises.…
