We were a bit disappointed with virginia city. It didn't get going to 11am and by 4pm all the saloons and restaurants were shutting. I hope it is better in the peak summer season but mid may/mid week it was impossible to get an evening meal. as the motel didn't provide breakfast we had to get supplies for that as... More

This quaint little motel definitely hearkens back to a quieter and gentler era. We read all the area lodging reviews before deciding on this particular motel. Within easy walking distance of the bustling by day downtown section we feared we were in for yet another sleepless night as we had in Reno the previous evening. By nightfall, though, Virginia City... More

My friend and I looked at two or three other motels in Virginia City while there last September, and found the Sugarloaf by chance. What a darling motel. Yes, the room was small (but we weren't planning square dancing in there anyway); the décor was wonderful, it was clean, quiet at night, and the owners are absolute loves. Within walking... More

My husband and me spent three nights at the sugarloaf mountain motel. Jim and Michele, the owners are owsome. They greated us like we were long time friends. They have this way of making you feel right at home. We slept in a room situated in a building that use to be a prison! Very nice room, new bed very... More

Our room was clean and comfortable. We are normally night owls, but were all sound to sleep by midnight. Both owners were polite, helpful, and offered great suggestions for places to eat in town. They were gracious to our young daughters. The view was lovely of the valley area! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

We were on a day trip but stopped at the Sugarloaf and visited with the owners. We didn't spend a night due to a preset schedule but we did review the rooms. I just love the place, but it was the hospitality of Jim and Michele that made the drive up the hill so worth the effort. I hope to... More

Owner very friendly, location close to town, overall satisfied. However, we made our reservation on the phone and accepted the quoted rate knowing there would also be some tax added. However, when I questioned the $10.00 miscellaneous charge added, I was told that was an "energy surcharge". I think this addition should have been mentioned when we made the reservation,... More

The room was perfect. We had a TV, heater, microwave and refrigerator. Very important items when we came back from the Ball around midnight. We were most impressed with Michele and Jim. They made us feel right at home. The bed was very comfortable. Oh! The coffee was so good!! It was such a pleasure to sit outside and enjoy... More

My husband and I had such a wonderful stay last August 2011 at the Sugarloaf Mountain Motel in Virginia City, Nevada that we returned again this past August 2012 to Sugarloaf. Once again our stay there was perfect in every way and the hospitality of owners Michelle and Jim is beyond exceptional. My husband and I really like Virginia City... More

Every year we book out Sugarloaf Mountain Motel with our tour group from Australia and we thoroughly enjoy visiting with Michele & Jim and the Aussie flags are always flying for us, thanks for wonderful memories. Michele always makes sure we are booked into a local eatery as she knows we love to eat. We always get up to see... More
