The people at Joe Dodge make the trip to MTW very special. I received smiles from the staff at dinner, checking in, at the shop, from other guests, everywhere. I'm dismayed to see any negative reviews. I've been there three times and the quality was fantastic. It isn't a hilton, in that you have shower stalls and bunk beds, etc.... More

We have just returned from our 6th stay at JDL. If you appreciate simplicity and quiet, go to Joe! The rooms are simple, from queen beds to bunk beds, all are comfortable. There is a bathroom on each wing, all very clean with shower privacy. The food is all home cooked on site. Everything is delicious. They can accommodate vegetarian,... More

But that was the only thing we appreciated. If you enjoy sleeping out in the twigs and are not looking for frills this is perfect. However for the price it just didn't cut it. We were not looking for a place to get comfortable as with a B&B or an Inn, but having a common same sex bath with everyone... More

Joe Dodge is not a place to go if you are seeking the amenities of a nice Inn. It's a place to go if you are focused on the mountains and want a convenient place with friendly people. I have stayed there 4 times in two years and always enjoyed it. I have gone off season and mid week so... More

We stayed in a new queen bed room, plenty of space for hiking gear, quiet and clean. The bathroom down the hall is clean and the showers are fine. The library and rathskeller room are great to hang out in front of the gas fireplace and relax. The meals are quite good with all you can eat. Vegetarian meals are... More

We spent 2 nights in a family room at Joe Dodge. The location was perfect for getting an early morning start on a long hike. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was firm, but we like them that way. Please keep in mind that this is not a hotel. There is one ladies' rest room and one mens'... More

WE just returned from a trip to New Hampshire ans stayed at Joe Dodge Lodge for our first time. We loved the stay there and would definitely stay again. You have to be aware this is not a typical hotel, and is a hikers / outdoors Lodge.Bathrooms are communal, and dinner and breakfast are family style. The guest rooms are... More

We will never be back, ever. Unless you are a serious hiker, avoid this place like the plague. For the price, go down the road and rent a nice hotel room with all the amenities, it'll be cheaper and you'll be more comfortable, I promise. It was hot when we visited the lodge, with temps above 90 degrees. They didn't... More

Our family of 3 stayed at Joe Dodge Fourth of July weekend. The main road was completely lined with parked cars. A lot of people using the hiking trails but Joe Dodge was quiet and welcoming. Typical AMC lodge with friendly staff, lots of historical photos. Rooms are plain but comfortable and quite clean. Mattresses tend to be on the... More

This is a continuation, more or less, of my review about highland center. AMC lodges are not resorts or five star accommodations. They are geared for outdoor enthusiasts, who like hot shower, comfortable bed, and good food after a long day/days of hiking. The lodge/rooms can get noisy, hot (during summer), and the two bed bunk rooms can be cramped.... More
