We recently stayed at the Mainstay Inn and it was a wonderful experience. We were in the Henry Clay room and it couldn't have been nicer. It was beautifully decorated and spotless. Could hear the horse carriages going by, and the ambiance of the Inn decorated for the holidays was memorable. Breakfast was delicious and Diane, the Innkeeper, was very... More

Since our first visit in may of 2006 we have been back every year for a relaxing back in time getaway. The Mainstay is never a disappointment. We always stay in The Clay, which has amazing authentic furniture. Breakfast and tea were wonderful as always and the foods are always a special treat. After our first visit we searched high... More

have visited Cape May for 30 years and finally got a chance to stay here July 4th weekend.  I always like to try different B&Bs in Cape May because each one has it's own personality.  I have always wanted to try here but the dates and availability just never fit.  I was smart and booked earlier than usual this time... We stayed here for three days and loved every minute of it. Our room was so comfortable, breakfasts were a treat as was the afternoon tea. We spent time on the first floor veranda reading. All the staff was friendly and the place was as clean as could be. The location is perfect and we were able to walk to... More

This is what wealthy Victorians had in mind when coming to the shore! Absolutely outstanding service and accommodations. The afternoon tea is exceptional. The renovation is exquisite! More

It is always a priviledge to stay in this luxuriosly gorgeous Victorian mansion only 2 blocks from the beach. Weather you are enjoying a leisurely breakfast on the large porch while enjoying the sea breeze, the decadent 4:00 afternoon tea, or just sitting on a rocker watching the evening horse and carriages go by, you will never want to leave.... In case you don't know the Mainstay (and if you're reading this review, maybe you don't), this is one of Cape May's grand old Victorian-era buildings that has been lovingly restored and filled with period furniture. But the Mainstay has done this better than just about any other property in town. It is quite simple stunning, and is run with... More

Beautiful - by far the MOST BEAUTIFUL inn in Cape May. Why this place isn't number one on Trip Advisor is beyond me - because if you are going to spend $200+ a night - this is easily the most beautiful place to stay! Just lovely!!!!!!! A+++ More

In May, my best girlfriend surprised me with a getaway at the very special Mainstay Inn - my favorite Inn in the U.S.A. From the moment I saw the tall white columns, wraparound porch and beautiful flower gardens I knew I was in for a treat. With a call ahead we were able to check in early as our room... More

Stayed here on a last minute decision for a getaway! Nice and quiet but within walking distance of the major shopping area and restaurants. Room was very nicely furnished with period pieces and the bathroom was nice a large! Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The staff was very warm and helpful. More
