We recently stayed this summer...August...and to our dismay, found the so called condo's really a boarding house. The rooms are average size and the location nice with your room facing out at the ocean BUT...the room itself is outdated....terrible bedding, extremely tiny bathrooms, decor and paint jobs poorly done and/or maintained....cracks in walls clearly old and never attended to, floors... Simply put: The Madrid is a great place to stay. It is NOT a 5-Star Hotel (I should know - I've stayed in several). It is a Jersey shore motel. After viewing the hotel on line, I was most disappointed to find that the single air conditioner in the room did not COOL the bedroom in the rear and the beds were little more than padded springs. Now I understand why they have a large NO REFUNDS sign at the desk.
