So we naturally had a wonderful time here at this little bed and breakfast around the corner from the drak sun. As an ex pat it pleases me to come home to me what is truly home, and that is an African and white lady running a very homely establishment. Laughs, love and humour and a very tasty brekkie all... We went to Cathkin Cottage in the Champagne valley for an overnight stay to enjoy activities and nature in Drakensberg. I am very happy to say that this place has been the perfect one so far and is on the top of my list of 'Places to stay' in South Africa. Leila's perfection in making this place a perfect get-away... If ever you need to get away from the busy hikers and bikers around Drakensberg then Cathkin will be the right place. Leila is the perfect host, the B&B is simple but full of love for details and wellbeing. Away from mainstream it offers a cosy and quiet environment to enjoy the calm. Spent three nights at the beautiful Cathkin Cottage over the Christmas period. Layla is a fantastic host and takes time to spend with her guests to offer advice on what to do in the area, where to go, where to eat etc. Breakfasts were superb and the rooms were off a high standard also. The only negative I could add... More

Wonderfully attentive hosts, amazing breakfast choices, great views and cosy house. Great location for exploring the mountain area and some great walks on your doorstep. Try and stay at the front of the B&B for the best views. Some restaurants in area to choose from.

My mom (84) and I spent two wonderful nights at the beautiful Cathkin Cottage. We were treated like royalty and nothing was too much trouble - More than a "home-from-home" experience! Thank you to our hosts - we would have loved to have stayed for longer and will definately be back! Edie + Lynne

This is a beautiful home away from home. The rooms are professionally decorated with every conceivable nick-nack provided. The art work is tasteful and the gardens and swimming pool are set within a backdrop of stunning mountains. The pool and gardens are beautifully maintained. Should you wish to dine "at home" on the large patio, the hosts provide you with... More

My son (25) and I (55) stayed 2 nights at Cathkin Cottage Bed & Breakfast on a short trip through South Africa. We felt at home from the first minute we arrived. We appreciated the advise our host gave us, and the way they cared for us! The Drakensberg area is splendid we walked a whole day at Monks Cawl... More

What a beautiful time I had in Drakensberg staying in Cathkin Cottage. The room was absolutely lovely and the bed was heavenly cozy. My hosts helped me so much because I didn't know where to go or what to do, the first thing was to give me a walking stick and send me on a beautiful hike to the Blue... More
